Some bad news and an interesting event for the Spartans. First the bad news, the Spartans 2019 preferred walk on, Kyane Schmidt, suffered severe injuries in a vehicle accident this last week (May 20th). Schmidt originally joined the Spartans as a 6'3" OL in 2019, did not play, and was in the process of moving over the the defensive line, this year. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. The Spun: College Football Freshman Suffered ‘Major Brain Injury’ In AccidentThe interesting news is that the Spartans will cash in on a nice paycheck, without playing a down. San Jose State had scheduled a 2021 game with Georgia, however Georgia decided they would rather play Clemson in 2021. So Georgia paid San Jose State $1.8 million dollars not to play. San Jose State quickly rushed to the bank and picked up Southern Cal for their September 4, 2021 game. San Jose State has a money game for each of the next six years: 2020: Penn State; 2021: USC; 2022: Auburn; 2023: Ohio State; 2024: USC & Oregon State; 2025: Texas.

Do wish Schmidt the best in recovery, and it looks like they do have some great tests coming up in football. Hopefully they can get an upset in one of those games somehow.
