Can GM (forget Chrysler for the moment) actually reinvent itself and become self-sustaining? I'm not sure. What I fear is that they will still need huge amounts of federal money to develop the cars needed to meet the new U.S. fuel efficiency standards coming in just 6 years. They are nowhere near being ready for that now. Meanwhile, here's the latest on the repayment story.
