Great analysis. The thing that gets to me is Gonzaga did lose by 18 to Michigan. Seems like no one cares since it was in November.
Well, according to the writer of this story on ESPN, yes. No one cares what happened in November.
Final Four
Creighton vs. San Diego State
Did you scroll ahead to see who I had here? Bet this is a jarring set of names. These are two of the top-10 teams in my power ranks and actually have similar profiles, but the level of competition for Creighton is obviously a big bonus. The Bluejays aren't especially deep, but everyone they put on the floor can get a bucket and most of them are willing rebounders. I worry that Flynn relies a little too much on the 3-ball (48% of his shots this season) and a prolonged slump is a major issue against an offense that ranks fourth in the nation in efficiency.

Plus: He thinks we'll make it to the Final Four.
Minus: There's no acknowledgement that the two teams have already played once this season, and that Creighton got blown out.
If you go to his Twitter feed, he says that "using a November game as the soap box is weak."
Actually, what is weak is:
- Failing to mention the previous game and its outcome.
- Hanging what would be a 32-point turnaround from their first meeting to the second on little more than Flynn will go cold and not make enough threes and that Creighton has faced "tougher" competition--and lost more.
- Failing to acknowledge that, like Creighton, everyone SDSU puts on the floor can also get a bucket. Over the last 10 games, Flynn has led the team in scoring 4 times, Feagin 3, Mitchell 2, and Wetzell 1.
For the record, I'm not really miffed about picking Creighton over SDSU in a hypothetical Final Four matchup. What annoys me is the complete and utter shallowness of the analysis. It's like the guy got near the end of the article and got bored.
