To try to make this OT, the question is:
Name 3 ways the Aztecs can score 1 point in at the UNLV game.
Answer before Kickoff if it is not already answered. Pls don't move this to the other board.

1. PAT 2. PAT is blocked and run back by the defense 3. PAT is blocked, recovered in the field of play by the defense, and then the defense voluntarily runs the ball in the endzone where the offense tackles the defender for a safety.

I think one of the answers might be if the other team forfeits. Technically wouldn't it be a 1-0 victory?

I think there might be 4:
Any safety on a PAT is 1 point, and the kicking/PAT team or the defense can score one point: 1.as full monty pointed out, stopping the conversion and gaining possession and voluntarily entering the endzone and being stopped 2. Blocking/stopping the conversion, gaining possession, returning the ball, losing possession, the PAT trying team recovers the ball, voluntarily enters the endzone and is stopped 3.1-0 is a forfeit 4.A kicked PAT is 1 point

I will admit I don't know the rules but here is my understanding of the rules.
On a PAT if the defense returns the ball its 2 points not one, because when you score by advancing the ball over the goal line on a PAT its 2.
Secondly, my understanding of a forfeit the technical score is the lowest that can be scored (not on a PAT) which is a safety or 2 points.
So I don't know the answer and may be wrong with what I said above.
Let's hear the answer.

1. PAT 2. PAT is blocked and run back by the defense 3. PAT is blocked, recovered in the field of play by the defense, and then the defense voluntarily runs the ball in the endzone where the offense tackles the defender for a safety. No. 2 is two points for the defense. Summary: 1. PAT by offense, 2. no. 3 above, and 3. forfeit. HAM

Yea, the Drop kick should be considered a seperate way -
Drop kick makes 5 2 ways to get a 1 point safety: pat team and defensive team 2 ways to get a 1 point PAT: place kick and drop kick 1 Forfeit: 1-0

September 12, 2009 at Qualcomm. In the first quarter against Southern Utah, SDSU freshman Leon McFadden blocked an extra-point attempt and returned it for 2 points. Most of us were there. Pay attention.

If you consider a drop kick a seperate way to score than there are 5 ways to score one point in an NCAA game.
1) Win by forfeit in a game where no score has occurred. 2) Traditional PAT. 3) Dropkick PAT. 4) Safety by the offense on a PAT. 5) Safety by the defense on a PAT.

I must say, #1 and #3 did not occur to me. However, I am not sure that a dropkick would count as anything other than a PAT. Just another way to kick it. But, very creative. Extra credit given. I also don't know about #1. Is a forfeit 1 point or 2 points? The tricky one is...Safety by the Defense (in the other end zone). I can find no evidence that it has ever been done. It was quoted on another board as such....never been done. Good work guys.

I found the answer. Answer Forfeited Games 2005 NCAA rules: ARTICLE 2. The score of a forfeited game, or a suspended game that later results in a forfeiture, shall be: Offended Team-1, Opponent-0. If the offended team is ahead at the time of forfeit, the score stands (Rules 3-3-3- a and b, and Rules 9-2-3-a and b). How about High School Games? 2-0 Read more: wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_score_of_a_forfeited_football_game#ixzz16HCZmdnn

Last time a drop kick was used to score a PAT in a NCAA game was 1970 for LaVerne College a Division 3 school near Santa Barbara.
I do not believe a defensive safety has ever occurred on a PAT. It could happen like this: an extra point attempt is stopped by interception, fumble recovery, blocked kick. The defense runs the ball the opposite direction in an attempt to score two points. The offense gives chase and causes a fumble prior to the ball crossing the endline. The offense recovers in the field of play but his momentum carries him into the endzone where he falls down or is tackled for a 1 point PAT safety.

I think the resulting trivia question from this thread is .....
Q. Name a way to score in NCAA football that has never been done.
A. Safety against the offense on a PAT. (I suppose that is called a "defensive safety").
