Looks like a little bit too late... but had fun following Xander and Piercy around Pebble Beach yesterday.

Nice! Watching the US Open in person at Pebble is something special. Xander is making a charge but both Woodland and Koepka are playing well and advancing. Rose is holding on and both Oostie and Rahm are having good rounds. Xander is going to have to have some guys come back to him if he is to win it. But he is playing very well. If Xander doesn't win it I am kinda rooting for Woodland. He has been rock solid all week and deserves it. Especially if he can hold off Koepka who is just a monster in the majors.

With one of the best rounds of the day in the most difficult conditions of the week, Xander moves up in to a tie for 3rd. Another solid finish in a major!

While he was never really in contention to win today, these sorts of back-door high finishes make a huge difference for things like Ryder Cup and President's Cup qualification (and his own bank account, obviously). I'm really looking forward to watching X in those big team-based competitions.

I would not have seen this coming even a year ago, but Xander is right now the best golfer from the 2011 high school class, (which includes Spieth and Justin Thomas). Thomas might still be a little ahead of Xander tomorrow in the World rankings, but JT has not been able to come back yet from his wrist injury from a few months back.
The USGA needs to go back to Pebble about every 6 years instead of every 8-10 yrs. (It returns to Pebble Beach in 2019). Does anywhere else on the West Coast even come close to comparing for a U.S. Open?? Torrey is great, and I'm glad the USGA is coming back in 2021, but it doesn't match Pebble Beach.
In 1972 I was 15 years old, and my two brothers plus a friend of mine were at Pebble Beach for the US Open for all four days. I don't think the USGA allows this now, but we would climb 10 or 12 feet up a pine tree for a look over the crowds. Fun times -

X had a great day today. Made some big money. He will get a Major one day.

Man, that 3-foot putt he lipped out on the 8th hole was painful.

Did Xander take off the SDSU logo from his bag? It looks like he got a sponsor to take that spot (not blaming him for taking the money - just curious).

I was hoping to get a picture of the Aztec logo... but it was replaced, at least in it's normal position. Didn't see if there was a smaller Aztec logo anywhere else.

Sad to see it go but good for him. I was more amazed it was on there originally. You just dont see that with other golfers.

Actually, amateur Victor Hovland, who played for Oklahoma St., was on the course yesterday in full OSU glory. He was wearing an orange OSU polo shirt, an OSU hat and was using an OSU bag with an OSU towel. Probably had some OSU boxers on underneath it all. Dude broke Jack Nicklaus's amateur scoring record, carding a 67 on the final day, and finishing at -4 (12th) for the tournament. oklahoman.com/gallery/articleid/5634089

He cannot be sponsored nor accept any winnings. When the amateur kids who are a part of s collegiate program play in a big professional tournament, they typically play in their collegiate attire.

Should make more that that with endorsements. He's showing very well in majors. Gotta think he is going to win a few before he's done.
