Started game 1 of the DH today for the Storm. Went 5.1 innings; 86 pitches 0 runs, 4 hits, 2 BB and 7 K's. He got the win, as the Storm won game 1 3-1.
Game 2, Bolanos got the start, and went 5 innings, 75 pitches, 1 run, 1 hit (HR), 2 BB and 5 K's, but took the loss, as the Quakes won game 2 1-0. The Quakes had 2 hits total, and the Storm had 1. The only hit was by Luis Campusano, who is basically the only consistent offensive threat on the team. Their pitching is outstanding, but their hitting is not.
The best part? It was easy leaving the ballpark, as a sparse announced gathering of 862 watched the proceedings.

I wish I had gone yesterday. Gore starts tomorrow in game 1 of another doubleheader. Patiño had 18 swinging strikes yesterday.

I wish I had gone yesterday. Gore starts tomorrow in game 1 of another doubleheader. Patiño had 18 swinging strikes yesterday. The stadium radar gun (suspect radar gun according to the scouts behind me) had Patino at 99 multiple times. He was still hitting 93-95 in the 6th inning. Also, Bolanos was hitting 94 pretty often in his outing as well.

Yeah that gun was all over the place the last time I was there. Patiño has hit 97/98 though as an 18 year old so I wouldn't throw it out immediately. His changeup to left handers is a critical point of his development. Mid-rotation with a chance for more if the changeup becomes more consistent. His platoon splits are ludicrous.

Tonight, Patino had another decent outing: 93 pitches in 6 innings, 8 hits, 2 runs (earned), 1 BB, 6 K's. Storm lose 2-1.

He's going to be very good. Foundation for 3 plus pitches and elite athleticism

8.1 innings 3 hits 9 Ks
Great outing tonight lowering his ERA to 2.63. Pretty darn good for a kid that is still 19 years old.

Late night bombshell : Luis has been promoted to Amarillo, becoming the youngest pitcher in AA this season. He was the youngest starter in the Cal League as well. Really excited for this one.

Patiño cruised through 3 innings - Then developed a blister warming up for the 4th and was removed.

Patiño to the IL, Gore taking the spot start. What a tradeoff.
