Last night he recorded 13 outs 11 via strikeout. He is really dominating Cal hitters.

Time to start thinking about moving him up to AA. If he continues at this pace, I would like to see him moved to AA at the end of the first half of the season.

Gore v Paddack at Lake Elsinore
Ks/Inn 14.3 Paddack 13.0 Gore
WHIP .898 Paddack .722 Gore
ERA 2.24 Paddack 1.37 Gore
W/9 0.7 Paddack 1.4 Gore
H/9 7.4 Paddack 5.1 Gore
It is still early but Gore now has half as many innings as Paddack did at LE last season. Paddack went to AA (7 starts) and actually reduced his ERA and WHIP even though his Ks went down to 8.8 per 9 innings. Let's hope Gore follows the same path. Gore is 2 years and 47 days younger than Paddack was last season.

I made the trek yesterday. Impressive, but nowhere near his best start. Allowed some loud outs, gave up a solo homer on a 1-2 pitch that leaked over the plate. Still, plenty good enough. Was reportedly clocked at 98 in the 6th inning.

He was one pitch away from a 1 hit shutout. At one point, he had six straight strikeouts. 93-96 today with 16 swinging strikes on 84 pitches. Offspeed stuff was very good, Campusano really called a fantastic game behind the dish. Before the home run (Giants #2 prospect Heliot Ramos) his ERA was exactly 1.00. He was fantastic tonight, about as succinct as it gets. 1 earned run or less in 9 of 10 starts, the other start he gave up 2 runs on 1 pitch. AA is calling soon. Peter Seidler was in attendance as well.

And yet, fewer and fewer fans are showing up to watch the games at Lake Elsinore. Looks like the bloom is really starting to fall off of the rose up there, which is a shame, as there are some really good pitchers there right now.

Tough with it being a 5PM game. I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Gore wasn't even announced until Tuesday.

Tough with it being a 5PM game. I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Gore wasn't even announced until Tuesday. But it has been trending that way all season. I was at the DH on Tuesday, and amazing as it might be, I think the announced crowd of 862 wasn't close to being accurate. It was the smallest crowd at a professional baseball game I have ever seen. I'm guessing that crappy concessions and the doubling of parking rates doesn't seem to be helping the club to draw fans. Gary Jacobs ought to put a little more of his Qualcomm money into updating the ballpark a bit.

On May 3rd Leasher was 0-4 with a 5.84 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP. In 4 starts since he is 4-0 (3-0 but team won the other game) with a 0.76 ERA and 0.76 WHIP. I would be interested in asking him why. He was a 6th round draft pick from Morehead State in 2017. On May 3rd Patino was 1-3 with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP. In 4 starts since he is 3-1 with a 1.93 ERA and 0.90 WHIP.

Saw Patino pitch on Tuesday. Really solid outing, which he started by striking out the side in the first inning.

Another pitcher who has stepped up in recent starts is Ronald Bolanos. He pitched again on Sunday; 5 IP, 1 hit, 2 runs (both unearned, as he was the victim of 3 errors by the Storm while he pitched, including 2 of the 3 errors on the day by 3rd baseman Eguy Rosario), 2 BB, 8 K's, with 89 pitches. He is now 5-2 on the year, with an ERA of 2.85. Also hit 98 on the (suspect) Lake Elsinore radar gun.

Gore went today in a planned two inning stint and was again dominant. Struck out 4, walked 1 on a check swing full count.
