Musselman must be a great evaluator of talent.

Musselman must be a great evaluator of talent. What's Dutcher's excuse? Also, why is Dutcher not landing more experienced, 5th year senior tranfers like Musselman is?

Is Musselman going to finally be leaving Nevada soon for a power 5 gig??? Still can't figure out why he is still at UNR.

If he sticks around how much longer can he keep bringing in upper class transfers? I think he currently has the oldest starting lineup in the conference. Maybe in all of college basketball. Even with the wins I would have misgivings about being known as Transfer U.

Not that this matters but Nevada has recognizable players, who some think are best in league. Both Transfers (below) Caroline: Southern Illinois Univ Johnson: Portland State Univ ________________________ Porter: ODU Ca. Martin: NC State Co. Martin: NC State Henson: Wagner Harris: LA Tech - redshirting Zouzoua: Bryant Lewis: Duquense - mid season Stevenson: Pitt/Juco Parrish: Akron/Juco

Not sure I'd be too excited about a transfer who lost his starting job. Duquesne is a decent program, but still, this kid might only be for depth.

In his case the current head coach didnot recruit him and had turned over the entire roster. Duqueene broght in 7 freshmen and 4 transfer over the offseason so he was the odd man out. He will be a solid addition to a roster that will lose alot after this season.

A bunch of older guys that spend a lot of time at the rec center playing against old dudes with cul de sacs and also go to tournaments to play against younger kids. Most of them have played alot of basketball so nothing phases them on the court.

Musselman must be a great evaluator of talent. You better be if you were in the NBA, because you won't last long there if you're not good at evaluation!

Musselman’s proven he can evaluate talent- part 1 part 2 is convincing the right guys to transfer. Then have them play as a team and to their strengths and use a system that allows this. Sounds so simple lol

Do you think he’s on UCLA’s list of possibilities?

Isn't it interesting that Nevada had donations from private sources that help build their practice facility and helped to pay part of Musselman's salary. This week the University of Houston had alumni pay a million dollars to hire the OC from WVU.
I believe that Houston very much hopes for Power-5 invite. I don't think Nevada has those aspirations or do they? We have private alumni donors that have given millions to build facilities on campus and now we have a western campus to expand and a new stadium. I wonder if that will be enough to breach the P-5 playing field? It seems that money and facilities are the key.

Some are just more realistic than others.

Do you think he’s on UCLA’s list of possibilities? According to a UCLA athletic department insider, Musselman has been called dirty, shady, a cheater and maniacal. After the Alford debacle, UCLA wont want and dirty, shady and cheater of a coach. They have higher aspirations...NBA coaches not a MWC dude.

Dutcher vs. Musselman both could recruit in the past. The difference was Dutch was always associated with Fischer. Now that Dutch is running the team, he has Fischer's role with no Hutson or Shelton. It will take him time to be the closer/delegator instead of the scout. I thought his current class was better than the last. Musselman worked for his dad, who was a heck of a coach and recruiter. I think Dutch can still recruit, but he doesn't have the stability that Fischer had at the end of his tenure, with his staff. Interesting connection between the two is both Dutcher and Musselman had fathers that coached Minnesota Gophers, and both had scandals that cost them their jobs. Ancient History but Dutcher's dad Jim replaced Bill Musselman as the Gopher coach. Maybe Eric replaces Dutch in a reversal of fortune 40 years later?
