The Aztecs have LONG needed a guy that good at shooting treys. In addition to racking up a lot of points, he would get a lot of defensive attention; likely creating some room for other Aztecs to generate scoring opportunities (Flynn, Feagin, Juiston, Jaden, Jordan, Matt, etc.)
With Juiston/Jaden, Hommes would provide instant Big Dance credibility and opportunity.

I'm told 5th year senior Hommes #1 destination is SDSU right now and he has reached out. Adding Juiston will be a huge get, with Hommes and his shooting makes us top 25 preseason. Jaden still leaning U of W but it's very close. With Juiston he'd get the 3/4 spot and that caters perfectly to his game. I don't really know who on this forum is in the know and who is not. So, with that in mind, I ask...by whom were you "told"?

Would be outstanding to get him here. As others have said, defense is going to be a liability. If he’s still coachable this far into his college career, he could be serviceable in our system. But I don’t know if he could be on the floor with Feagin at all. Also adding Juiston would help. Hopefully Nathan can improve his foul rate on help defense. If so, that can help a lot. I also think Arop is going to get big minutes next year for defensive purposes to help hide some of our guys. Hopefully the ratings for Flynn aren’t lying (he’s superb on O, but also above average on D). Are people assuming he's a bad athlete because he's a D2 player and white? In that highlight he looks very agile for someone who is supposedly 6'8. Not saying he'd be a great defender but I don't think he'd be a liability No, not at all. Not me, anyway. He is very athletic for a 6’8” white dude, that doesn’t make him quick/reactive on D though. In that scouting vid, his foot speed and close outs are getting exposed by D2 players. At State he’d be on the wing guarding guys in and out - my worry would be his effectiveness 1) trailing cutters and coming off screens, and 2) lateral movement defending quick forwards on the perimeter. His offense would make up for it, and a cohesive effort on D could hide some of it, but KJ’s defensive metrics are poor as well (haven’t seen much video). I don’t think we would be very successful running minutes where two of our guys are giving up a lot of dribble penetration and/or closing out poorly. Think of Nevada - how would our defense look if we had Feagin and Hommes guarding Caroline and a Martin? That’s a looottttt of pressure on help D. But also, I’m not a coach... so 🤷🏻♂️

Doesn't mean much since he's with Clint Parks and Jalen McDaniels as they're probably just preparing for NBA workouts, but Hommes was working out at the JAM center yesterday.

This recently means the "kiss of death" for Aztec recruits. They seem to come in and use the JAM prior to making announcements on school selection AND we never seem to be their school of choice. I have to admit any or all 3 would be a big get for the program. If they bring in any of them I am sure someone (from current team) will decided to transfer out even if they are only 1 year players.

He would most likely be better off to try out with every team that is interested, hear what they have to say about what he needs to work on, and then hire an agent IF he is sure to be drafted.

Hearing SDSU of high interest but lots of noise. Hommes is going to declare for the draft and then decide.

ESPN article... Hommes is declaring for the NBA draft and "looking to hire an agent." He’s not going to be drafted If he does in fact hire an agent, it doesn't matter (as far as being relevant to SDSU)

I guess our AM insiders need some new sources, LOL.....Not really sure why he would hire an agent when he's the 96th ranked prospect and only 60 guys get drafted.

Under the new rules adopted by the NCAA's board of governors and Division I board of directors, college players are allowed to be represented by agents who are certified by the NBPA and NCAA after any season, so long as they request an "evaluation from the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee." They must end the relationship if they return to school.
Players can also now return to school after going undrafted without losing eligibility, but only if they participated in the NBA combine.

Anyone can hire a agent and comeback if they end the relationship with the agent by a certain date The tone of the article is that he’s moving forward with a professional basketball career. I’ve read or heard nothing that would indicate SDSU or any other college is even a consideration.
