In the aftermath of an unspeakable tragedy, the Poles stand tall. Can you imagine how we would feel if a tragedy of similar proportions had struck down many of our national leaders? We should not ignore what the Poles have gone through and how much progress they have made despite their tribulations. www.nytimes.com/2010/04/13/opinion/13iht-edcohen.html?ref=opinionAzWm

I don't know....... depending on the composition of the people on the plane.... quite a few people in the US would probably have a party. And if you think that is harsh..... my wife's Republican parents were not unhappy when Kennedy got assasinated....

I can remember the Kennedy tragedy as if it were yesterday. I know where I was, where I was going and shared the deep sense of loss that prevailed. I was not a Kennedy fan, but some things transcend party politics for most of us.

I was not a Kennedy fan, but some things transcend party politics for most of us. I was just coming out of an 11:00 AM Spanish class at State when I head about the Kennedy assassination. That began the four blackest days of my life; a really horrible experience I hope we never have to go through again. (By the way, though a Republican at the time, I had a pretty good feeling toward JFK. I would trade Obama for him in an instant were such a thing possible.) AzWm

I just think there is a lot more bad will in general in the US today than when Kennedy got assasinated (I was in third grade). If a plane with Obama, Pelosi, Reid etc. went down.... I would not beleive for a second any crocodile tears by Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, Colter etc. That nut case Beck even talks badly about Teddy Roosevelt for God's sake. That guy is the most evil person in America.

That guy is the most evil person in America. I was at sea on a Navy destroyer. I went up to a secluded spot on the signal bridge, and just sat there with my head in my hands. For some reason, I just felt I had to be alone for a while. It was very traumatic. uw, you should consider that the hyperbole you express above doesn't always appear to others to be much different from what you charge them with.
