If true, I'm sure Rocky and Horton are ecstatic to hear this cr@p! Now they have 1 RB committed, do they start the search for another?? Can they do better?

I'm not surprised, SDSU's been a first fallback option for many recruits (until they get a sweeter offer).
It's not the recruiting staff's first rodeo, expect them to have a contingency plan of other recruits.

Also... it's not like the cupboard is empty at that position for the Aztecs, if we take fewer RBs in this class... I don't think that's a problem.

With all the transplants living here, I'm not surprised there's a ton of Pac-12 alumni living and working down here. Speaking of which, I saw a car with New Hampshire license plates down here in SD. Funny, Chip Kelly's from New Hampshire....hmmmm. Oldie Out

Perhaps he didn't like what he saw with Jasmin, thinks he will get more playing time elsewhere.

We want players who want to play here, period. No need to beg guys to come here and play. As we have seen, that approach is working quite well.
For him, at least he will get to do some in-game conditioning over in Pasadena. No other school in the nation is doing that. Lol.

Strange , as a running back I would think we would be an upgrade over UCLA if you are hoping for a Pro career. I wonder if he had the decency to tell Rocky directly ?

Probably saw Jasmin's performance against ASU and realized he'd have to wait until his 2021 to be the starter.

Timing is really odd, considering they offered weeks ago and he said he was still solid here....It's alright. We will be fine.

All very legit reasons, so can't blame the kid. Better facilities + better chance of playing isn't a bad mix. Although you never want to lose great players we still have JW, Jasmin, Bell, Williams, Byrd & Thomas - RB isn't a position to worry about. It's like OL recruiting the past 2 years - it's tough when you already have so many good young players as guys may perceive a lack of opportunity. It's amazing we've been consistently able to find such good RB talent given the comp they know they're facing.
"With all of SDSU’s depth at running back, McClendon said he believes he could have a chance to play sooner at UCLA." This is the real reason - right here. UCLA is a mess and he can see the field much sooner. Not a lunch pailer, JMO. "McClendon said he had not yet spoken to SDSU coaches about his change in commitment, but planned to call them this week." - Don't bother to call, they can read the paper.
That's a bad look but not uncommon. Unless you're open to being talked out of decommiting it really doesn't matter. My guess is they anticipated something like that could very easily happen.
