Obamacare, end-of-life options and Section 1233.

As I posted earlier, Obama is not organizing death squads to rid us of useless oldsters who just stubbornly won't die. But there is genuine concern about one aspect of the proposed health care reform, Section 1233. (BTW, this is the first I have heard of that particular section, though I have been aware of this general controversy.)

I guess the question is this: Why is the government inserting itself into an issue that should be decided privately within the family of a patient? Well, the answer is obvious: those who are formulating this Obamacare plan, whatever its final provisions may be, as sure they know best. Well intentions notwithstanding, I think that are overreaching, even if the question they are addressing is a legitimate one.

Anyway, here is a sensible look at Section 1233 and the whole issue.

I doubt that this will get much comment. I have a living will and have made those decisions. I would hope that most folks would consider a living will as part of their Estate Plan and eliminate the problem for your family.

Now to get a Draconian Obama like entity involved is scary to most and for that reason alone be enough to derail ObamaKare.

This section just continues what is already going on and says that the plan WILL pay for this type of counseling. Jeez.
