Obviously Dutch knows more than I do and if he wants him then I'd be happy with him, but my prediction is that we'd pass on him. I think he comes with a ton of baggage and doesn't like defense from the times I've seen him play. I dont think we are a team to give someone special treatment, which is what I believe he would expect

Even though they weren't in his original Top 10, and they're a Nike-Jordan Brand program like us, I'm going with a hunch that he chooses UCLA. That's based on his close relationship with his "good friend" from the LJCDS girls basketball program who has already committed there. No inside info on my part, just a wild guess. His NIL is with Puma, but the article states any shoe contract conflict can be worked out.
I'm with others saying we don't need the sideshow distraction, but then again, that would be quite the PR jump for at least a year. Maybe it would bring in other high end recruits? Either way, I'm not a fan of us becoming a one-and-done program, not that that would necessarily happen.

Little doubt that Dutcher has extended an offer to Mikey and very likely stay in contact with him .
as we all know - any school can make an offer but it is the recruit that makes the decision on what schools they want to visit or consider and eventually sign with
Would guess if the Aztecs do well this season it could improve the Aztecs chances of Mikey thinking about SDSU
So it is up to Mikey

No matter what he says publicly I'd be very surprised if he plays college. And it definitely won't be at San Diego State

I'm thinking that his opening "asking price" will b $2M to play for a particular college team...it might settle around $5M once the bidding is ended...
...why go to the NBA to play in the "G" League when you can make more money playing "amateur" basketball?
Either way...he'll never play for SDSU...nor should he

Considering he came back to San Ysidro after playing in North Carolina, I doubt he's interested in playing a year abroad. Best financial move would be to play for a NIL cash cow.

He already makes so much more than that. Someone with between $2-5 million at 17 doesn’t need the G league or help from a university getting NIL deals. Companies are lining up for him because of the amount of social media followers he has. This is the only thing giving me optimism that he could choose SDSU

The kind of storyline that CBS and ESPN would drop mega bucks to document with specials and a ton of prime-time Aztec basketball games. Not to mention, if we added a player with his talent level and put him next to an experienced team of veterans, we would actually have a shot at winning it all. I'm pretty sure that he can monetize staying at home and going to SDSU in a big way.

Fun to think about what he would do for this program, not only on the court (mainly boost in attention and recruiting )

I don't think we (me) want this kid. Too much noise around him individually, not the kind of guy we typically want or go after. As Fish used to say, "The team, the team, the team". I could be way off base but this feels like "Mikey, Mikey, Mikey".

He can make money outside the G league through endorsements. 500 K is just one piece of the puzzle. And the G league would provide significantly better competition for him than college.
