Guess that John Wooden style of coaching folks on here were going on about isn't working so hot...maybe because he's not John Wooden...

He is losing to teams with inferior talent. That is a problem.

What’s not working out is Kell and Hemsley...these 2 guys simply are ruining the team morale with their terrible play

Dutcher will not be fired this year, even if the Aztecs don't win another game. Of course, such an outcome would put ENORMOUS presure on him next year. I think that two bad years in a row would put equally enormous presure on the athletic administration. In any event, the program has largely collapsed as of this moment.

Down 2 on road with the ball and 2 timeouts, you don’t call TO and disorganized offense throws up terrible shot with 2 seconds remaining. Can’t blame that on Kell or Helmsly

This is similar to last year, and I’m not convinced it’s Dutch.

Can't imagine the Gucci Row crowd will put up with this much longer. It's not that we're losing, but the manner, with second half collapses, constant mental errors and overall softness. Dutcher was as much a part of things as Fisher the past couple of years. I don't necessarily blame him for what's happening but you can now make the case that he might be the one who takes the fall -- which is sad after just one year.

Guess that John Wooden style of coaching folks on here were going on about isn't working so hot...maybe because he's not John Wooden... To be fair John Wooden was at UCLA starting in 1948 and won his first title in 1964. His 1959-1960 team was 14-12 and nearly got fired. I still believe in Dutcher. Maybe we need to give him a little slack. It's not like we are getting beat by 20. I too am very disappointed but I think it's our lack of senior leadership and no take charge clutch guy more than Dutcher.

You tell Dutcher to go out and recruit and see how we're doing in three years. As mentioned in my post above, he's as much responsible for our seniors' performance as anyone. It's not like he stepped on the Mesa for the first time in August. I share your sentiment overall, and hope you're right, but right now it just doesn't look good for him.

Are there anyone left in that crowd? J D Wicker should go hard after Joe Tsai and try to develop a relationship there. I heard he's worth up to 12-15 billion dollars. He lives in La Jolla and likes basketball.

It is clear to me that Dutcher is on a very short leash. If this keeps up, pretty soon Viejas arena is going to start looking like the pre Fisher era with the team playing in front of a more than half empty arena.
Apathy with this program is becoming dangerously close....

We’re stuck with him for at least another 3 years since we gave him a 5 year contract. This is exactly why I don’t like just giving a coach a promotion to head coach without at least opening up the the process outside of the program. I wonder if we’re going to do the same thing to our football program once Rocky Long retires. I hope not, but I’m afraid we will. I think the administration is just too lazy to look for people outside the program or too afraid to make a mistake.

I’d guess he gets 3 year due to his loyalty to Fisher and the program. But if we are a middle of the pack of the Mountain West team like this year by year 3 then he’s gone.

IMO, in the span of the last three games, Dutcher has made some poor off-court and on-court coaching decisions. The easy excuse is to say that it is his his first year as a head coach. But 19 years as the top assistant should have been adequate enough time to prepare him to take over the top job.
Dutcher still has the opportunity to make his first year a success - if he wins the MWT. His primary goal should be to have this group healthy and firing on all cylinders come tournament time.
