Maybe he was having second thoughts and wanted to give the coaches every opportunity to sway his mind. Take the opportunity and swing for the fences. He is giving you a last oppportunity to change his mind. Take and make it your best shot. Go down swinging. Take a chance and you’ll be the starter as long as you are here. Be the man not just a guy. As a Duke guard you will always be looking over your back. Come on Boogie make the right choice, and make the right choice tomorrow and avoid a transfer later. Be the man!

If he did come and tell them about his decision in person that is actually a mature and classy thing to do.

I think everyone would be shocked if he stayed home. Why would you not want to play on a mega-team like Duke? All the big studs seem to want to play on loaded AAU teams. Why would college be any different? And 90% of the 4-5 star HS kids are SURE they're going to start and star on a team no matter how many McDonald All-Americans are on the team with them. That confidence is what helps make them as good as they are.

Whatever the visit was for we will find out where he's going shortly.

Back to Boogie - There's so much Duke smoke that I'm inclined to believe that's the way he's been leaning for a while. It's a bummer because we recruited him from the get go, but I'll never blame a kid for going to that school. When the devil down in Derm comes calling, not a lot can be done to not be drawn towards the darkness.

I think Leaf was at some practices too toward the end.

Its going to be Duke, which like people have said, you can't blame the kid for going to one of the most storied programs in the country.
But how cool would it be for all these recruiting websites to think its a done deal to Duke and he pulls out an SDSU hat! Imagine how the city will react! News stories everywhere, all SDSU fans going crazy, expectations for next year raised tremendously due to him signing, new hometown hero!
Duke fans reaction to him committing will probably be like, "He's only ranked #36? We couldn't get anyone better" lol

The quality of a Duke education is hard to match. The exposure on national television is second to none. The facilities are incredible. The fan support and home court advantage is incredible. The alumni coming to practice is a real draw. Traveling on private aircraft is often a once in a lifetime opportunity not to mention the fact that you’d never ride on a bus through a blizzard to visit Laramie Wyoming. Prestige and history also also has to count for something.
I’d love to see him stay home. It would be coup for our program.

Next target? Arizona? USC? Kansas? Duke? Nope, probably that criminal head women's soccer coach at UCSD who gave his players some money to get pizza after a late game. Priorities.

Duke will never be sanctioned. College basketball needs them to be good

Let's be honest, any of us in his position are picking Duke over us. I like Dutcher, but Coach K gives him a better chance to be in the league in a year. Add to that the national exposure every week, the ability to play against top-tier talent every game, and get better by playing around other players at his level. I'd love to have him here but I don't think we're getting him.
I'm thankful when the local guys are giving us looks, even if they don't come. It helps our recruiting and tells us our program is coming along. If he went to practice to actually tell the staff he's not coming then that's a classy move and I'd be pulling for him going forward.
Isn't he a PG? Aren't we set there with Flynn? I'm sure Boogie has a higher end but we'll have Flynn for a few years, may ultimately be better for the program.
However, if Boogie does pick us then I think it means we're getting McDaniels too and talking about Final Four next year...

I could have gone to Columbia or Berkeley or UCLA for an MBA, but they were not in my final three and I eventually chose Maryland which was ~20th ranked with all three of the others five to 15 places higher... I just felt like there was a better fit at Maryland...

For a player like Boogie, it's usually all about the best opportunity for getting to the NBA. Duke certainly appeals for that, but SDSU worked for Kawhi. So... ??

tremendous amount of pressure to be a hometown hero...more than Shrigley or Kell ever had. To be great and live up to the hype. It is understandable many of our best local players go elsewhere. Somewhere they can fail or succeed without the burden of playing in front of friends and family. Kell took an incredible amount of heat from this board. Ritchie Willams was too short! Rahon over-rated shooter!
that said, Ellis has a good relationship with the program. There is mutual respect. You all will just have to stay tuned for the announcement.

So... ?? best opportunity for getting into the NBA is all about having the opportunity to get better in a relatively short amount of time. school name has less to do with it. schools can teach drive, but its really upon the character of the player to take advantage of the situation they are put in. even then there is no guarantee. Look at Miles Norris at Oregon, may not even play this year. might have been a starter here at SDSU. Zylan Cheatham, fled to ASU because he didnt like the way he was being used...guess what he is being used exactly in the same way he was at State.

If he does pick Duke, we can't begrudge the guy for going to arguably the top program in the nation. One of these days it would be nice to get the top 50 local kid to stay here though. Maybe if he gets recruited over at Duke, he could come back here, sit out the '20/21 season, and take over for Flynn in the '21/22 season.
