The Aztecs were simply unprepared for the Zags game. They looked and played lost.
They were properly prepared last night. They knew who they were playing and neutralized their main weapons from the get-go.
I don't think Pope and Max would've made that much difference last week.
SDSU is just not playing like a top 25 team yet, Gonzaga is already playing like a top 10 team.

Could we have, of course we could have the same as on any given day a 15 seed (which we are better than) can upset a 2 seed.
Now, if you are asking if all other players performed at the same level that they did (because there is some random variation to player performance) and Hoetzel and Pope played at the level they did last night, then "No". Even having a quality Pope and Hoetzel opening things up offensively, and and providing quality minutes would not be enough to overcome the fact that A) Gonzaga is consistently a better team than we are right now; and B) Many of our other players did not play well in that game.
This is not to write that we can not beat Gonzaga, not only are we capable of beating them right now but I imagine we will improve more from our matchup until March then they will. Rather the play we put forth on that night, combined with what Hoetzel and Pope bring, would not have equaled what they brought to the table.
