The next few months will be interesting. I'd be worried as an SDSU fan if it weren't for that pesky vote the Mayor is insisting on.

I'd prefer the Chargers to leave or go downtown but if they stay in the MV site I don't think it's the end of the world for SDSU to play in an awesome new NFL stadium

This sucks! Why? They still have to get the MV stadium approved and built, which still has a LONG ways to go. Still a good chance Bolts bolt.
A bigger issue IMO is student pop. We're down 10k this year due to state budget cutbacks. How do you expand a campus when you can't fill the current campus? Hopefully that changes, but still a challenge. A decreased student pop also means less revenue for athletics.

YAWN. The propaganda machine is running full bore...too bad they'll still never get a vote. Peace Out Dean.

An SDSU stadium would just be the cherry on top.

Yes, that is the silver lining. Any Charger stadium plan will still have to pass a vote with the electorate which will be no small task.

Interesting since we turned away approximately 60,000 - 70,000 student applicants last year.

Interesting since we turned away approximately 60,000 - 70,000 student applicants last year. Yep, but you have to have the ability to accommodate those students academically, and with budget cuts this has really hurt us. Imagine how many students we could have w/o the cuts.

The public isn't going to vote to give money for a stadium. Unless Spanos is paying for all of it there will be no new stadium for the Chargers.
They have to get a deal done by March 23rd to get it on the November ballot. Good luck with that.

I would not be surprised if the Mayor did a flip flop behind closed doors and tries to give away public money and land without a vote.
Heard that the Chargers were going to spend $10 million on a public relations bid to gather signatures, push for a downtown stadium and a convention center expansion, all headed by Maas.
Remember it isn't how many votes that count, it is who counts the votes that counts.

They are going to try to get a palace downtown. This is their last and best shot to get it done.

With high turnouts for the November election, I wouldn't count on a vote passing...
