I can't believe that. Unabashed excuse-making, holy crap. New Mexico had about ten chances to win that game and have no one to blame but themselves. No pride here whatsoever.
I remember our coaches making ZERO excuses after the Mizzou debacle on a clear block in the back situation.
Methico didn't defend us well and then we got after them in O.T. I'm actually surprised by this level of b.s. and denial. You blew an opportunity, now move on.

Just saw this and had to post. Big respect to Jon Rothstein for pushing back. Sorry about the quality, took on my phone.

Everyone's a lobo! sweet comeback Danny. It's hard to not feel awesome about their eating crow when it comes to the "classless azztecs" and "we should win 3 out of 3" talk that has been so prevalent over there. The thing they clearly know in the back of their minds but they HATE to think about is that Neal isn't that great of a coach or recruiter. He was in Alford's shadow and it's starting to look like he might be sucking them back into "decent" status instead of consistently excellent as they used to be. They might rage against it if an SDSU fan says it to them directly but I KNOW most of them are thinking it and saying it during losses. I'd argue that choice of adjective - my definition of "consistently excellent" would include at least one S16 appearance...

And I thought Gary Perish was the biggest asshole at that desk last night! He is at every desk, right? Usually, but he was a close 2nd last night to the Crybaby Hobo Homer.
