We could very well lose on Wednesday night. But there's no such thing as a trap game with this team. They want to go undefeated.

I'm pulling for 12-0 record after Fresno! I believe that would be a conference record? Utah(2004) and SDSU tied now with 11-0 starts to conference play. Why not set a record when afforded the opportunity? Let's go Aztecs!

Going to Fresneck, the city is hard especially if you are spending the night there, much less playing a basketball game.

The Aztecs will win on Wednesday to get to 12-0 and then win the next two to get to 14-0.
The final four games will be fun.
@ Wyoming BSU @unm UNLV
There is a path to 18-0, I would have thought it inconceivable just a month ago.

I think this game is very winnable, but for some reason Fresno always plays us tough.

Fresneck is turnover prone . they had 17 to's against San Jose State who gave them trouble AT FSU. They lost at home to NM by 15 and by 12 to lowly SJSU only a few days ago We will win. We need to play hard and if they flop or fake fouls them foul them hard. Put Parker U in if they flop And have him thrown out if we have too.

we could barely beat them (in OT) at Viejas we also lost to them last year. I smell a trap game. ah well, as predicted, sdsu will end up being 16-2 (the two toughest games will be @ fresno st and @new Mexico) So the Fresneckians finally have the internet huh? I guess we can now expect more trolling and sheep porn.

Who's afraid of Fresno? All he said was that Fresno has a very good chance of beating us in Fresno. I agree. We have had some really tough close games against them, and you can't forget what happened up there last year. They came out bombing the net, and we got swamped! Don't sit there, and think just because they lost to SJSU by twelve that it really means that much. The Spartans are a much better club this year, and they just played better. The MW is that way this season in case you forgot, and if you are not playing your best on road games that will happen. You can be sure the Bulldogs will be primed, and ready for us Tuesday. They and New Mexico will be our two toughest road games remaining in conference, no doubt. We can win, but it won't be easy. The OP is afraid of FSU, that's who. And he didn't say they had a good chance of beating SDSU, he said they would beat SDSU. And then he ended his post with a sad-sack, "ah, well ..." Lame. I'm not saying @fsu will be an easy game. It won't. There's no such thing as an easy road game in college hoops. But I think this team has the talent and fortitude to grab another road victory if it hits on all cylinders. You must be still hallucinating longtimebooster, he said nothing about being afraid of FSU, only that he thought the Aztecs would not win. Nowhere in his thread, or title did he say I'm afraid. Post it word for word where you saw that.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind... Mark it down...the Aztecs will beat Fresno State on Wednesday and extend their conference record to 13-0.
The Aztecs are a different team than the one that that beat Fresno 3 weeks ago... I dunno what happened... - Spencer has been playing like every game is his last...doing so much more than trying to block shots...he's pulling down hard rebounds and going to the rim with authority.
- Shriggley is back...if nothing else than to play defense and provide some on-the-court leadership...and when he finally dials in his shot...WATCH OUT!!
- Pope has regained a lot of confidence that he seemed to have lost in the OOC schedule. He doesn't seem lost on defense and is in the game at crunch time
- Cheatham is learning to play defense without fouling and crashing the boards like no other...it's February...and he has grown from being a freshman and into a beast
- Chol seems to have figured out his "hands-of-stone" creating the inside post presence that we all hoped he would show us when he transferred from Arizona
- Shepard has stepped up to say this "this is my team"...I'm going to do whatever I can to lead this team to victory...be it score, play nose-to-nose defense, assist or rebound
- Kell continues to slash into the lane opening up guys on the perimeter or down low when the double comes out to cover him...
- Hemsley...what more can I say about the MWC player of the week
- Allen has hit some clutch shots in the past couple of weeks after being nearly invisible for a month or two...never loses his man on defense
The Aztecs will NOT let Fresno back into the game like they did at Viejas...they will squeeze them like a python squeezes the life out of a rabbit...

Who guarded Marvelle Harris last time, Winston or Kell? He only shot 4-20 in our last game....need the same type of effort and results!

Kell was primary, with DA switching to him when he was in the game. So Kell around 27 minutes; DA around 17 (Harris played 44). Obviously there were the occasion switches, but Kell had a great game that day. Even got Harris in foul trouble (he fouled out). Believe Win was on Watson a bunch, and did a good job.
The guy who killed us last time was Edo. 15 points & 14 rebounds, but most importantly 9 offensive boards! That was ridiculous, and he even did well against Sky. We need to keep a body on that guy.

Glad they have more faith in themselves than you. Weak take. Have you compared their road record vs their homes record in conference?

Classic wagering rematch scenario: First game was way closer than expected. Betting public thinks Fresno can pull upset at home. Better team wins by >15 on the road.

Cullen Russo and Karachi Edo both average 25 minutes a game in conference. They are bad free throw shooters.
FT Percentage (MWC) 43.5% Cullen Russo 52.4% Karachi Edo
When they are in the 1 and 1 their Points per possession going to the line for a non shooting foul is pretty low.
PPP Player (FT%) .624 Cullen Russo (43.5%) .798 Karachi Edo (52.4%)
Fresno State averages 1.044 points per possession. Fouling them would be a nice reduction in their production. Maybe not foul intentionally but surely don't allow them to work with the ball toward the basket. Play very aggressively because a foul is a reward, not a punishment.
In the double bonus, it would be
PPP Player (FT%) 0.870 Cullen Russo (43.5%) 1.048 Karachi Edo (52.4%)
Cullen is so bad that fouling in the double bonus is still a good idea. Edo should not be fouled at that point although it is a wash with the Bulldogs season average, they shouldn't be that good against the Aztecs.
This tactic shouldn't be used until the clock is under 3 minutes or so. If we are behind we can start this at the 5 minute mark so our fouls are against the right players instead of settling for fouling the players they choose a little later.

What FSU does well and badly.
BAD Free Throws - worst in the MWC in FT% (66.4%) Free Throws - 9th in the MWC at getting to the free throw line. Free Throws - 9th in the MWC at limiting opponent's free throws (#323 overall).
Good Turnovers - Commit the least turnovers in the MWC Turnovers - Cause the 2nd most turnovers in the MWC Steals - First in the MWC in Steals. Steals - First in the MWC in not allowing steals.
FSU is 6-4 in the MWC even though their opponents have a better 2 point %, 3 point %, FT %, and get more free throws. The reason they still have a winning record is +23 in offensive rebounds and +39 in turnovers. That is 62 extra possessions in 10 games or 6.2 more chances per game. The Aztecs are +31 (ORB) and -18 (TO) or +13 = 1.2 more chances per game. Hopefully we can limit those numbers to close to even.
First game FSU 12 ORB - 9 TO = +3 SDSU 15 ORB - 14 TO = +1

All the teams play us tough. .......we are on top and have been for many years .....when State shows up the other team sells out. Our guys have to learn to be king of the hill.......and I think that is happening ......as Fisher says ...we have a target on our back .....play accordingly ....so far we have Go Azrecs
