Won't be needed once Jackson is back, but the criticism of him for taking plays off is a joke. Watch any receiver for an entire game, and they'll appear to be loafing on plays in which their only job is to be a decoy.
Does anybody really think he would have lasted as long as he did with the Patriots if he was as lazy as the DB's he routinely burned claimed?

At times, he was terrific with New England. I'd say his period of time in NE was his best of his career.

I could see signing him for a few weeks until the WR core gets healthy. Then, if he gives any $#!+ you can cut him. That should be a pretty big weapon to keep him in line. Hard to get a good contract the year after you've been traded and cut twice.

He must have been motivated pretty much his entire career then, because his stats from Minnesota are in line with or better than what he put up with New England. 10 of 12 seasons of 1,000+ yards, and 9 of 12 with 10+ touchdowns doesn't happen if a guy is slacking. He was wasted in Oakland, although he cracked 1,000 yards in his first season with Norv Turner. After Art Shell came back and brought in an offensive coordinator who was managing a car wash the year before, things didn't go very well.

I was a huge Moss fan during his first stint in Minnesota. To me, he has shown he can be the best receiver in football....or a guy who had 0 catches in his last game as a Patriot, and 1 in his last game as a Viking. Depending on his motivation. He loafs and half asses it when he is upset with his contract or management. Granted, that wouldn't make him the first athlete to do that. I just think he had the potential for alot more. He still does. He has admitted publicly to the faults, which I give him credit for. Many don't.

Moss was AWFUL when he played for the Raiders. He half assed it from about his third game with the team and never gave 100% after that.
I don't want that guy anywhere near the Chargers.

More negative Moss reading...from ESPN..... Before news of the trade hit Monday, Childress said he did not consider Moss' comments "incendiary." I didn't believe him then and I think we now know it wasn't the case. It seems pretty evident to me that Childress read Moss' comments and then watched the tape of his performance Sunday in New England -- a game marked by many of Moss' patented half-run routes and punctuated by a poor effort on what could have been a touchdown reception in the fourth quarter -- and gave up on him.
The decision compounded the original mistake the Vikings made in acquiring Moss from the Patriots last month. Nothing that happened since then should have been surprising to them. Moss' long history of being what I call pathological contrarian told you all you needed to know. What follows are documented facts, not opinions:
Despite his remarkable skills, Moss doesn't run hard on every play.
In most of his previous seasons, Moss has given up on at least a few catchable balls.
He doesn't speak often to the media. But he has no filter when he does, and frequently produces mini-dramas with truths that usually hit too close for comfort.
He has run astray of authority at every stop of his NFL career, explaining why he has now been fired on four occasions -- twice by the Vikings, once by the Oakland Raiders and once by the Patriots. If you want a quiet soldier, Randy Moss isn't your guy. No surprise there. espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/18853/moss-2-0-an-inexcusable-lapse-of-judgment

Childress is an idiot. Just having him there on the field was doing wonders for the other receivers. They averaged an extra touchdown a game with Moss than without him, just his presence opened up a lot of options for people like Harvin to step up. He may be a cocky know it all but if a dude on my team just came from the team we were about to play and had some insight to what they were going to do I would be inclined to listen.
If he came to the bolts Floyd and Gates would go nuts in single coverage, he wouldn't have to catch a single ball to make a bigger impact on the team than Buster or Legedu.

Moss is gonna get the TO treatment this offseason around the league as a free agent. One year offers with clauses built in to protect the teams.
Manning, Rivers and Brady are clearly proving that you DON'T need to dish out $5 mil/yr or more to a WR in this league. Considering the restrictions of NFL Salary Cap, save those $$$$ for other more critical positions.

Hell NO!! He's been slacking, by his own admission, ever since he got that big money contract with the vikings back in the day. Still, moot point thank god. He's the titans' problem now.
