Believe 2 True Frosh played this year.....
Parker Baldwin (Aztec) and Ronle Lakalaka (LB) cracked the 2-deep.
Baldwin got the award for Freshman POY.
2 players cracking the 2-deep as freshmen is no big deal when you have
teams like TCU with 15 and U$C and UCLA around 19 and 20.
Young, gifted players want to play immediately and should feel that way.
The general rule of thumb is that if you can crack the 2-deep...you will
play. The more players that can do this is a measure of your recruiting
and the success of the program. It is a self-feeding situation and one
that we should be aspiring to have happen on the Mesa. The days of saying
" we can redshirt them and have them for 5 years" is long gone as far as
a goal. It does happen but it is not goal for most talented players.
They want to play and if they are physically able and talented enough..
....they probably will.
Let's see how this next recruiting class measures up.
