Rivals is showing that he committed today. He is a 6'4 285 lb dt from mesa community college. Not only does he look big and strong watching his highlights but he looks quick for a big man. We may not be getting four or five star players but the level of athlete we are recruiting goes up a notch every year. I liked last year's class and I already think this year's class will be better.

That is one big man... Provides a much needed big body to add to the rotation with Christian Heyward gone next year. I think the best thing about CC guys is that they usually enroll in the spring. They get to take advantage of a full offseason of hitting the weights, learning the plays, and getting used to the team and SDSU. Less jitters and more familiarity than an incoming freshman.

A five star true freshman = a quality JC transfer? You only lose a couple years. We need depth on DL for sure.

When we see a rating be it 2 or 3 star for a JC player. It that their rating coming out of HS ? or as they finish JC ? Does a JC player need to graduate in December and enroll at SDSU in Jan to be able and play Spring Ball ?

A five star true freshman = a quality JC transfer? You only lose a couple years. We need depth on DL for sure. Oldie Out Obviously I'd love for a 5-star to come to state rather than a quality JC transfer, but that ain't gonna happen for at least a decade. Point is, this guy is a proven quality and bigger than the average HS recruit. More experience, less guesswork for the coaches to do. Even the 4 star LB we got last year is redshirting (by all accounts he's a monster on the scout team and a proven talent on the field, not trying to say he's not a good player). But this way, we don't have to wait a season or two to see him get meaningful minutes, he can be plugged in right away. As for the stars, I believe they are his Juco grades. But again, take ratings with a grain of salt. Biases, less media coverage of the juco circuit than HS prep players, strength of schedule, and a multitude of other factors goes into those ratings. Looking at his profile at ESPN (not a great source admittedly), he wasn't ranked during his high school days and originally signed with Florida Atlantic but attended Mesa CC for 2 years. He was a two star from Rivals in HS with some interest coming from the SEC but no offers. Maybe grades were a factor in his HS recruitment. I'm glad we got him though, judging from his highlights the man is strong as an ox.

UT reported JonDarious Gardener , JC , has signed his LOI so is a done deal ? Could help DT as we lose two starters . Per Rocky, When the front 3 DL guys cause chaos it really helps the LBs , and DB's make plays .That is when sacks , and INT's start to show up .

He's a big body we really needed in the middle and he should help immediately. We lost Heyward to injury/graduation and Noble Hall (not sure to what).
