The guy looks lost on both ends of the floor...
On offense it settling for only 3's and getting pushed around on defense
He needs to toughen up and play with more effort...
Simply looks uninterested when he's inter court...definitely has another year he will be staying with us...maybe 2
What a BUST he has been this year...high hopes that he can't deliver

He looks so lost right now I wouldn't be surprised to see him transfer out of SDSU for a fresh start somewhere else next year. Of course this would require a red shirt, but he may feel he's not being used right.

too many long 3s and bad isos. the first two 3point shots looked good and were in the flow but rimmed out. after those two shots he seemed to force some difficult shots and lost confidence.
have him settle 15-18 ft away from the basket so he can take a guy off the dribble/post /or step back and shoot. camping out at the corner isn't the best way to utilize his height and athleticism. when he drove last night there were just too many guys in the lane.
I think that they'll figure it out. last night was tough for everyone.
right now pope is a finesse player that doesn't fully utilize his physical gifts. if he gets a mismatch with a smaller guy he needs to do work in the post keeping the ball high and pass the ball to the open guy when he gets doubled. when a big locks on him he has to pull out to that 18ft range to utilize his speed while everyone else spreads out and gives him room to penetrate or dish.
he's just too raw right now. last year the 3s were falling a little easier and got everyone drooling. he didn't take full advantage of his physical gifts last year either so I wouldn't consider this a step back just a natural progression.

I actually think he's starting to get things going. You see less hesitation and him being a little more physical. Things still aren't dropping and the offense doesn't go through him so he gets in no rhythm. He's not going to be a 20/10 player like many on here thought he would be but I think in conference you'll see a 10/5 player. The big question is what he'll do in the offseason to be a 14/6 kind of player for all of next year.

It is only a matter of time and experience. He is gifted and I expect us all to be drooling in amazement over an exciting Pope come January.

There is no doubt his play so far this season has been extremely disappointing.
He is a talented guy, but at this point really doesn't impact the games much as all he seems to want to do is take long outside shots.
He needs to start playing better D and rebounding a lot better. Forget scoring, that will come in time but start doing the dirty work instead and impacting the game that way.

Relax people. Pope is the real deal. You'll all be sucking his lollipop soon once he gets it going. Don't forget that he hadn't played for a couple of years because of injury. Chill out. Let the team grow. And watch in amazement as Pope turns into a star.
The guy has the best stroke we've ever seen at this school. His touch is phenomenal. Just give it some time.

He didnt played much in high school due to 2 times he broke his leg or much last year. Try to cut the very young player a break. I assume you are a "fan"

I'm thinking that the missed practice time (and early game time) from nursing the knee tweak early in the season is a big factor in his current "not up to speed" issues. If he's still struggling like this when the conference games come around, then it might be time to worry.

I'm a huge fan Fisher Fanatic thanks for asking and have been since Gwynn was our point guard in the late '70's. A guy as heralded as Pope should not have to struggle so much to put the ball in the basket. I think after a year and a half the broken leg excuse is getting tired. I'm not expecting him to put up 20, 10 and 5 each game like the freshman from LSU, but a consistent 10 with effort on D and rebounding is not asking for the world considering he's supposed to be a lottery talent. So my point is he has to be frustrated too (see Goodluck at UNLV) and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't transfer. This is called first guessing instead of 2nd guessing and saying I told you so later. I wouldn't want it to happen just like I wanted Zabo to stay, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Some of you are not really fans .... And I'm guessing but most couldn't hit a 3 pointer if your life depended on it . If Pope transfers because of this sad lot.....who among you can take his place. If you will remember it took X T some time to mature
I know go watch women's BB
