Looking at this picture, no way in hell he was ever going to SDSU. He was just pulling everyone's chain. I think they were leading SDSU along just to F with them.
Again, the one that really hurt was not getting Cage. That was a kick in the gut from an SDSU family.

The picture below tells the whole story. Both dad and brother were wearing an Adidas shirt and the Adidas handler is his AAU coach I believe. He's also holding up and Adidas shoe. What a surprise. twitter.com/byrdymanSure is a lot of Adidas in that pic

I don't get Leaf and his family at all. They are long time San Diegans that live very close to SDSU so why drag one of the most love and respected team in San Diego through this whole charade? They knew that TJ was going to UCLA all along because of the Adidas connection but yet they pretend to consider the Aztecs. TJ even attended the exhibition game versus CSUSM. They should have respected coach Fisher and staff and eliminated the Aztecs early in the consideration process knowing full well that TJ was headed to UCLA. Just poor class in my opinion.

Open a bottle of Chardonnay. Light a candle. Start a bubble bath. Cue Styx and turn up to 11.... youtu.be/jKbIBb1Z6Z0Babe, I'm Leafin', I must be on my way The time is drawing near My train is going, I see it in your eyes The love, the need, your tears But I'll be lonely without you And I'll need your love to see me through Please believe me, my heart is in your hands And I'll be missing you.

I don't yet hunk the kid had a choice
In a weird way maybe wearing those colors was a way to show how much he respected the Aztecs.

You wanna commit to UCLA, then fine. Can't knock the choice considering the tradition of the program, academics, etc. But don't purposely wear another schools colors just to $#!+ all over them. It was a bag move plain and simple and shows his and his families true character.
Move on ye' Aztecs. Props to jboogs for sticking it through. Excited to see him develop.

Who cares? He can wear all the Adidas shoes he wants in Pauley Pavilion with 5K fans watching. I'd much rather watch our Nike sponsored student-athletes in sold out Viejas Arena.

Besides this young man's signing, what's most troublesome to me is how much pressure is on these kids and how much money is at stake surrounding these teenagers. Now I'm not saying that improper recruitment didn't happen in the past, but it seems like in recent years, shoe companies, clothing companies, and other businesses have played a huge role in determining where these kids end up. AAU is also at the root of the problem, I believe.
Signing a letter of intent should be an exciting time in a young athlete's life; there's no need for advertisements during the announcements, but unfortunately, that's what it's come to. Televising these events and making a spectacle out of it is pretty ridiculous too....and people wonder why athletes always get preferential treatment and get coddled. We treat them and their announcements like it's the Academy Awards.
Besides all of that, good for Leaf. However, watching all of his videos, I never saw him dribble with his left hand, especially when he brought the ball up the court...that may be a bit of an issue, especially if he plans on making it in the Association.

Don't bash a kid who you would be drooling over if he picked us. Sour grapes make bad whine.

I'm sure he'll be a great player but it seems to me that he lacks the character to have worked under Fisher's system. He appears to be the type of guy who thinks he's bigger than the team. The whole red and black tie thing just shows a total lack of class. It's pretty obvious that it's disrespectful to wear the school colors of one of the team's you are rejecting and for him to not realize that would raise some "character issue" flags for me. Oregon wouldn't have been too pleased if he came out in a yellow and green tie.

If he hadn't done that, then nobody here would be bashing him. UCLA is a better choice academically but not basketball-wise. The kid is an ass for doing that. They totally did that on purpose as if they had some vendetta against Fisher. Troy Leaf was not a good player hence him ending up at Azusa Pacific.

Channel 5 Fox just interviewed him and he mentioned that he made a decision about a week ago. I wonder why did he went to the CSUSM exhibition game on Monday when he have already made up his mind to go to UCLA last Thursday? Why continue with the charade and wearing a red and black tie? Total classless if you ask me.

I have never seen a recruit pull out a shoe and put it in front of a camera to indicate which school he was picking. That was totally weird.

His whole family decked out in baby blue and adidas. I'm not sure it was this malicious but definitely a troll move: tbh that position we are deepest at z, narain, mcdaniels, sub in max and tiki. See you all at the home opener tomorrow. Look forward to it.

I'm putting you guys on par with the idiot "War on Christmas" Fox News blather. Grow up, grow a pair, move on with your lives. Quit inventing reasons to get your panties bunched. You think the family wearing the colors of the school their kid chose is something to get upset over?? Did you know every family does that when their kids sign? Ever been to the Hall of Champions on LOI Day? And the tie, who cares? He probably didn't even realize what color it was. And if he did, so what? You're really gonna let that ruin your week? Quit embarrassing your fellow fans that are actually level headed, and go cry under your sheets in private instead of posting here and putting your petulant pantywaist bellyaching up on public record.
Now run along before I tell you how I REALLY feel!

Now run along before I tell you how I REALLY feel! Agreed. Conspiracy theories are running rampant here; it's almost disgraceful. The whole "he wore a red and black tie just to spite us" is a waste of energy. Assuming that a kid would wear certain colors to troll us or stick it to us because of what we "did" to his big brother years ago and how his dad obviously "hates" SDSU is hogwash. Stop looking into it so much. Stop creating and otherwise fabricating a story....a lot of the board is starting to look like Gary Parrish. We lose out on athletes every year, and yes plenty of them are good and local, too. If you really need to publicly out a teenager for being "classless," you have bigger problems...
