UT Article on Lucas Johnson and Transition to the Spread?

This is an article published yesterday highlighting Johnson's playmaking abilities.  But what I think is the most interesting tidbit is its angle on SDSU possibly going to a Spread offense in the next few years.  The author says after Pumphrey leaves, the QBs remaining (Agnew, Johnson) are geared toward the spread.  I know this notion has been rumbling for a while now (at least on this board), but this is the first tangible thing written about it.

It also notes that Johnson's high school was traditionally a triple-option team until Johnson came along two years ago.  A QB that can change the mind of a HS coach could also be a factor in switching our offense up if his skills translate to the college level.  I, for one, am excited to have this guy on campus next year!

God I hope not we would lose every game.I would not mind using it for 5-10 plays.Washington is exactly like Pumphrey so the running will not end after Pumphrey leaves in fact we have Penny as well it will be better.Johnson will probably not even play the QB position when he gets here.The UT is a bit crazy at times!

If he didn't love SDSU so much, he'd probably be a perfect fit at Oregon. Ironic, his development coach is Akili Smith.

We better recruit top tier receivers (and top tier OL to protect) to complement the spread.

Would say last year and even this have shown that even with a great RB ,we need to have a QB that can complete passes and have a passing game that works . If we want a chance to beat P5 teams and the better teams in the MW ,we need a quality QB . Beating the average MW teams is not good enough . Need to step up and have a balanced attack with a quality QB . DP struggled earlier this year , needed solid OL and QB to help get him going . IMO we use both passing ( can be short to medium game ) and the running to get us to the next level . Hillman , Muema , DP are great backs but we are going to also need quality QB to go even further. Goal has to be winning MW and be the best of G5 , not just having the best RB in G5.
