We will be at the Vista/San Marcos game in San Marcos tonight calling the play by play on www.hitekradio.com ! San Marcos is predicted to win 28-14, but Vista is coming off of a dominating win over El Camino. Vista has been extremely inconsistent this year, though, so despite the 38-0 win over a then 5-1 El Camino, and despite a 61-7 win over now 5-2 Paloma Valley, Vista is a bit of an enigma. They could go in and take San Marcos apart. OR, they could go in and have San Marcos clean their clocks. We'll find out what happens at 7:00 tonight...

Well, what we found out is that San Marcos has a phenomenal offense. Vista couldn't figure out how to defend it until late in the game. Final Score... San Marcos - 32 Vista - 21 One of San Marcos' TD's came on a drive where they had a 25+ yard pass completion that should have been called back on an offensive pass interference call. The receiver blatantly shoved the cornerback as the CB had position to make an interception. The cornerback almost went to the ground after being shoved hard - but no flag was thrown! The officiating was pretty bad as there was also a phantom Intentional Grounding call against Vista that was absolute horse$#!+. Vista's QB was flushed out of the pocket for the 39th time and was rolling to his left, stopped and set before stepping out of bounds for a 5 yard loss, and hurled a pass downfield that ended up about 3 yards out of bounds. Of course, a receiver was right there on the sideline very close to where the ball landed. So of course the official throws the flag and Vista is hit with the Intentional Grounding penalty, which, of course, includes a loss of down. Fortunately, on the next play Vista hit for a 44 yard bomb getting the ball into the San Marcos 7 - but even that one almost had Vista flagged for offensive Pass Interference! I was ready to go ballistic on the webcast as the Vista receiver had barely grazed the DB in passing, whereas the San Marcos receiver earlier had intentionally shoved the Vista DB almost to the ground and didn't get flagged. Sanity prevailed and the penalty was waived off - but, still, that the one ref even threw the flag in the first place was absurd, especially considering the non call against San Marcos just minutes earlier! Ahhhh - High School football officiating! Gotta love it! A little home cooking for San Marcos last night. As if they needed any help from the zebras!
