Everyone can agree the Keith Smith to Oregon & Brodrick Jones to UTEP ending up being a blessing in the get of Gil-Ceasar
Cage Jr - trying to live up to his father's level, probably would have been a disappointment to most Aztec fans.
The 2 open scholly's for 2016 - then can go to some more seasoned transfers, I am sure the coaching staff is hard at work scouting them.
Anyway that's my prediction for the 2 scholly's. Of course we'd take Leaf - or Stanback, but I would't hold my breath on these 2.
Already in place some Amazing rosters for 2015-2016 & 2016-2017 in place.
But I'd rather have a Josh Davis - then any of the frosh we targeted.
Glad I'm a season ticket holder!

Whatever the makeup of the team has been in the last 5 years, I was always excited for the season. The next two will be no different. Not being in the Top Ten recruiting classes doesn't upset me. I agree about Jones leaving being a blessing. Not as sure about Cage Jr. although a lot on this board would feel he was a disappointment if he didn't reach his father's level. I'm not positive we're out of the mix for Stanback and Leaf and Fish has made a good living on transfers so I have full faith in our system. I think we've all gotten a bit greedy and entitled considering we've never been past a Sw16. But that will hopefully change this year. Can't wait!!!

Most of the BBALL guys that the Aztecs were recruiting this year ended up signing with programs that accomplished a lot less in the last five years than the Aztecs! And have been lower ranked!
It will be interesting to see how many of the guys that signed with PAC 12 schools actually get even a chance to do anything in the nc2a tourney in the next couple of years.

MBB Transfer prospects: at this point in time there are only 2, slim & none! Just kidding, it's Monday! A commitment from Leaf, or Stanbeck would let us know that we still have it! Once this season starts we will be reminded that we more than have it, this year could be very special. Perhaps go farther in the NCAA tourney than any other Aztec BB team? I believe we will be more exciting for sure, and 2016 looks awesome with the 3 guys we already have signed, future is very bright!

forget freshman - get 5th year transfers that want to play in the NCAA tourney! I'm ok with that, Pac 12 coaches must be great sales people. The biggest stage to showcase a players talent is the ncaa tourney, how they can sell being in the middle of the pac 12, with a minimal chance at March madness over TOP of Mountain West and a deep run in the tourney is beyond me. Only exception is AZ and UCLA last yr. We've done it for what, 6 years in a row!!!!

Would wonder if Aztecs had known that BJ was not coming here early , if they would have gone after a regular transfer at PF/C position ? J. Williams 6'9", Mizzu 's leading scorer/ rebounder , transferred to the Zags, would have been an option the staff may have pursued stronger or another PF/C ,Williams red shirts 2015 and then play two years 2016 and 2017 ?

Nolan Narain,Max Hoetzel, Montaque Gill Caesar, I am VERY happy with those 3. Being an optimist, I think transfer Max Hoetzel will be a big surprise and help the team a lot. The other 2 will be excellent players! It may be too late for another transfer but maybe the coaches will work some magic. Leaf or Stanbeck would be an excellent get.

Do believe if the coaches had known that BJ was not coming they would have first tried to land a physical guy at the PF/C position , bigger priority for 2016 to go with Nolan , and Zylan up front . Need a strong physical guy . McDaniels ,thin frame, seems to want to play away from the basket . MG-C could be great addition if he recovers from his back injury to his HS form at SF/SG. Also have D.Allen, SF /SG . Max SF/ can he play PF ?a taller Shrigley could back up those guys . But the need will be PF/C either HS talent or Grad transfer - similar to Josh Davis unless we can still get a quality HS guy .Ben Kone would have been nice. or transfer J.Williams who went to the Zags .

forget freshman - get 5th year transfers that want to play in the NCAA tourney! Don't disagree but the pool who fit the mold we are after (post) is rarely big and is always in great demand. If we can get a FR with big upside you definitely do it. We have plenty of scholarships left. More likely to find regular transfers, which doesn't do us any good in 2016-17. davis was the perfect storm. Hopefully the winds blow right again come April-May.
