Does anyone know anything about him?
I would love for us to finally recruit a "big time" QB for the fist time since Ryan Lindley came to the Mesa. I would think with our history, our pro-style offense, and our improving program we would get a highly touted guy from SoCal soon.

Yes that is him . 6'3 " QB at Mt Carmel . Rated 3 or 2 star . stats from the first two games this year 24/36 for 417 yards ,10 rushes for 143 yards . His team lost to Mira Mesa last night . Do not have stats . Hard to get a solid read when they are early OOC games and competition . San Diego County is not considered the hot bed of HS football . Believe he has said he wants to stay local so family can watch him play.
Little doubt the recruitment and development of QB's has been terrible at SDSU . Way too many OC's , not sure of the previous OC's who actually went out and watched the QB's perform . Not sure what role QB coach Sipe played in the development , but we can see the results on the field and he is gone . Did he have any say in the development and recruiting ,I do not know. The terrible recruiting and development of the QB's has been a major reason SDSU has not progressed . Is the new QB coach any good , what role does he play? Is there finally a quality priority and system set in place or are we still on the QB merry go round . Until we get this corrected ,little chance of becoming a high quality program without this happening. Is Chapman a quality QB ? Is 2015 recruit QB Agnew , a Horton recruit a quality QB , ?

At the very least he was good, got a lot of unnecessary $#!+ from Aztec fans on boards. Though that decision against Utah still haunts me.

With the HC and assistants that we have now, put together with our poor "coaching up" history, it's not likely we'll see a "Big Time" QB recruit land here, without a new HC.

I am really on the fence with this staff. We have a new QB coach who has an option background and yet we're stuck on the pro set. Somewhat like oil and water when it comes to development. Blane Morgan was also an OC at AFA so I can't see he and Horton being on the same page. Plus our recruiting coordinator is a defensive coach (Randy White). There doesn't seem to be any synergy.

It is a sad tale. I just cannot imagine a top QB recruit in a meeting with Rocky, or any of our coaches on the O side, thinking, "Wow, SDSU is where the money is". Confusion on offense, no focus, coaches with competing strategies. Talked about going to the spread more, in the off season, then backed away. Just a very NON-cohesive team. Can't see it improving with Rocky here. If he made the decision to use both, just before the game, then the players didn't know either. I just think that sends bad signals and vibes throughout the team.

Pretty sure he committed to State. They also got a soph defensive lineman that's 6'3 310 lbs that's being heavily recruited by the Pac 12. Hasn't got 1 letter from SDSU

It is very important for SDSU to get its act together at recruiting and developing its QB's . Some one needs to step up and take ownership for being responsible for making sure it gets done correctly because it has been a disaster the last 5 years. We are never going to win without a quality QB . We have dominated at RB but no titles, it is a QB game . Believe Horton recruited Agnew the QB in the 2015 class . Has he been there to watch Johnson ? Time is now to get this right .

Hasn't got 1 letter from SDSU You are of course, correct Mr. Douchey1. In my case, I was speaking more to the general frustration of inability to attract QBs as in the past. Don't really have an opinion yet on Mr. Johnson. And I prefer not to speak much about 17 and 18 year old recruits specifically.

We have new people on staff THIS year who are involved with evaluating both QBs and WRs, so how about we give them some time to do so. Toledo and Sipe are both gone, and they're gone for a reason. I have faith in Horton, Morgan, Cooper and Hauck. We're not going to get A1 QBs to SDSU, and who's coaching has no bearing on that. They go to P5 programs. But we need to do a better job of evaluating A2 QBs, and we have a decent future with Chapman and Agnew. We also have to get lucky and hope they develop into good pro style QBs. Nearly every G5 program have QBs that don't pan out - it's what you deal with when recruiting 2nd tier QBs. And as importantly, we need to give those QBs better receivers, and why Hunkie is now here. Big upgrade.

We're actually ahead of most by even having a former QB be our QB coach. BsU's QB coach never played the position, was a LB in HS and coached tight ends most of his life. That's more the norm than the anomaly. Morgan has at least been there, and teaching one style vs. another is very minor. We're actually in very good hands. Coaches also know their roles, and it appears to me Morgan respects Horton. Greatly. I'm sure they're very much on the same page. As for our recruiting coordinator being a defensive guy, so what? Would that mean there would be no synergy with our defensive staff if he was an offensive guy? He's a COORDINATOR. He doesn't have any say in who we recruit at QB, WR, RB, etc. He coordinates the process. Some teams have their ST coach as coordinator; some don't even assign them any on field coaching duties. It really doesn't matter. PS. One of the more respected OCs and QB coaches anywhere is Franklin at Cal. He played RB and had nothing to do with QBs until his 9th year of coaching.
