But....in fairness to him, the Chargers were ranked #1 in total offense, AND defense, going into yesterdays game. You can't say the personnel is all bad, although I do feel the drafting has been rather poor the last three years. www.nfl.com ranks the team sortable stats. Dumb mistakes and awful special teams has sunk this team thus far. These are correctable issues.

So is Keyshawn Johnson from ESPN Game Day this past Sunday. Not a good day from the ESPN perspective as they highlighted the depth we have fallen to.
I have to say I'm falling into that side of the argument as well. I don't think Aj has the ability to differ between the financial and personal side of the argument's at this point.
Something's wrong when some of our jettisoned players play better after they leave our organization, and our performance goes way down in conjunction with those moves.
And, after time has passed, where the Hester and Weddle trade ups really worth all the picks we gave up to get them? My take is no, not at this time. And, if not now then when?
I hope I'm wrong, but AJ's star is doing a slow fizzle since the Sheli-Rivers trade.
I hate being 3-5.

English, to me, (when he plays) looks downright poor. He was a 1st round pick, and to me is looking like the "Bust' Davis pick....lousy.
I thought he was a reach when AJ drafted him, given his projections. So it's not hindsight. But then, he's only had one healthy season, so I am definitely not ready to give up on LE. I just felt the pick was a reach.
A friend of mine texted me during the game and said "Didn't we take English over Mauluga and Clay Matthews"? English wasn't playing, but I think he was observing on our dormant pass rush.
My response was...."I think so, but Matthews was a part time player at 'SC so its a bit unfair to blame those who passed on him. " Good pick by Ted Thompson at Green Bay.
I do not believe Maualuga has been very good at Cincy, but I havent watched him much. He had a so-so rookie season.
The point is....English hasn't impressed me at all, even when healthy.

My son and I had this discussion last week re: Matthews still being available when we picked English.
You make a valid point about his playing time at SC. But, it's AJ's job to evaluate. Period. He didn't extrapolate Matthews body of work at SC versus English's body of work at N. Illinois.
Damn it would've been nice to have his pass rush capability right about now.

Who has A.J. picked in the draft over the last 3 years who has been a big time impact player?
I can't think of anyone. There have been several out and out busts, and a few role players, but no impact players.
And since A.J.'s M.O. in free agency is to let people leave and then NOT signing any high caliber free agents to replace them having poor drafts like he's had is going to kill this team.
A.J. sucks. He's a fraud. Just look at who has left and who we've added. We're moving backwards. If not for Rivers and Gates this team wouldn't even be competitive.
