JJ is the best player on the Idaho Stampede And just scored 30 pts with 8 assists. He is shooting 30% from NBA 3 and 71% from the FT line . he has made 31 NBA 3's so large sample. Only 1.2 turnovers in a large 34 minutes per game He will make the NBA and stick.

I'm still here and I will admit my wrongdoings the first time he sets his foot ion an NBA court in an official NBA game Ditto. Will gladly eat crow. But, sadly, won't have to. Agreed, I love JJ, and I commend him for making the team, but I'm not sure he's quite at the "minutes in the NBA" level. That's not a knock on him, plenty of amazing players aren't and I hope he proves me wrong!

That fool just needed to do his job, which was to rebound the ball. In fact, he's the worst starting power forward in the Fisher tenure. Guys like Josh Davis, Billy White, Aerick Sanders, Randy Holcomb, Marcus Slaughter, Mohammed Abukar, Kawhi, Malcolm Thomas and even Jamaal Franklin (yes Jamaal played pf) did a much better job taking care of their business and put this guy to shame tbqh. I never drunk the JJ kool aid and if we had any one of those previously mentioned on our team instead of him we would've had more success than we did. The guy really has no skill, that in a scale of 1-10, i'd grade his skill level a zero. He could not rebound or finish inside because he was undersized and couldn't jump. He couldn't stretch the floor cause he couldn't shoot. Give him the ball at crunch time? Better not get fouled cause he's a terrible free throw shooter. Energy guy? Not even that he is slow and didn't hustle. As for him getting a contract to play for the Jazz? i'd say match made in heaven. Turd franchise and turd of player would go together very well. Good riddance. Of all the players mentioned the only one with sound better basketball fundamentals than JJ was Kawhi.I started laughing at it like whoever he is was joking Maybe while playing for San Antonio, but not while he was at SDSU. I respectfully disagree on this one .

Kawhi was a better "glue guy" than JJ. I would never compare Kawhi and JJ....being a "glue" doesn't have to do with fundamentals in my opinion in this case. So, Kawhi was "second" in a stat and that's why he had better fundamentals while he was here? He also led his team in scoring - as a freshman. Why didn't you mention that? Anyway, we all love Kawhi, but I really don't think he nailed down the fundamentals until he went pro. He had a tenacity for getting rebounds and an incredible work ethic along with a ton of raw potential. The NBA saw that potential and went to work to make him what he is today (along with his own monumental efforts of course).

I agree that JJ definitely had better fundamentals and a higher basketball IQ when he was at SDSU. Kawhi was still terrific and smart, but he took some bad shots.

My opinion. Kawhi improved his 3 ball shooting 10% in one season. He was improving here before San Antonio ."glue" has much more to do with assists which brings the team together. Look at Kawow's great passing at our first big win at Gonzaga. NBA level precise passing.

Don't understand how any Aztec fan could be averse to congratulation JJ for being in an extremely elite group.
GO JJ!

The article certainly wanted to make the JJ/Utah connection. I wonder what JJ said about SDSU that was left out.
Oh well, nice comments about our guy even if Aztec-ness is underplayed.

JJ O’BRIEN▪ Vitals: 6-foot-7, 220 pounds, small forward ▪ With the Idaho Stampede: Averaging 11.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 28 games. ▪ In the NBA: Received a 10-day contract with the Utah Jazz and received limited playing time in two games, marking the first regular-season NBA action of his career. ▪ Quotable: “The NBA game is a lot faster and more physical. You’re playing against guys who are the best in the world. And as far as the travel goes, you’re flying in charter planes and staying in some really nice hotels. The lifestyle is a lot different.” — J.J. O’Brien Read more here: www.idahostatesman.com/sports/nba/idaho-stampede/article59089678.html#storylink=cpy

Great to see JJ in the house tonight.
If you're reading this, thanks for taking a moment and a picture with my nephew. All he could talk about on the drive home was getting the picture framed of his favorite Aztec and him in his #20 jersey.

JJ looks a lot better in his NBA uniform than Honey Badger looked in his. Just thought I'd point that out.
