I may have missed something here, but is this the alternate uni to "attract recruits" or the actual home uni? Does the away uni have the Aztec Calendar too? Is the Aztec Calendar going to be part of all the sport teams unis? Nike's uni contract with the Aztecs ends this year, so I guess they had to do something with the Aztecs to keep them from going to Under Armour. I don't like it because the Aztecs did have a classic traditional uni that rarely changed. Usually mid major teams like the Aztecs do gimmicks like wacky unis to try and "attract recruits", but the Aztecs never did that and stuck with tradition. Unique all black home unis before all black "alternate" unis were cool. BTW, I see a Mexican "student" group on campus saying how having the Aztec Calendar on a uni is portrayed as "racist". Get ready for this. I'd say more P5 teams do it than mid majors. Oklahoma State, Oregon, Ohio State, Baylor, Oregon State, etc. These are our actual home & away uniforms, not an alternate BTW. I dont think that DS (SD) logo was a traditional Aztec uni. I thought it was pretty ugly. If you want traditional Aztec uni, then go with the brighter red helmets that say Aztecs on them like in the 80's/90's (which I would be fine with, I loved our uni's in the 90's). I love these uniforms though Our current SD logo is fine. It certainly is a way better version than the previous logo with gold color and "STATE" on it, which can't even be centered on a hat. In fact, when I was at Mammoth last winter, I wore my hoodie with our SD logo when snowboarding. I met random people from New York and Colorado because they recognized our logo and asked if I went to SDSU. Similar thing happened when I went to Lake Tahoe, I met people from Washington, Idaho and Ohio because they commented on my SD sweatshirt. In other words, our logo seems to always be the ice-breaker. As much as I loved our Monty logo, I'm all in with our SD logo. As for our 90's uniforms with a hundred stripes and the "AZTECS" on the helmet, it made us look "high schoolish." My East Coast friends, who visited me before their school started, said that their first impression of our team when they saw us run into the stadium was we looked like a high school team. The funny thing was, my Aztec friends and I agreed with them. I'm into "classic" and simple uniforms but unfortunately, we couldn't seem to achieve that with our past uniforms/helmets with the exception of the Dark Side era. Don't forget that we had about a dozen different logos in the 90's too which annoyed the heck out of me. There were too many unnecessary AND terrible logos. This new style we have may be "busier" due to the incorporation of the Aztec calendar, but it certainly stands out - in a good way! It's nowhere near as gaudy as the other uniforms out there. And the best part is, unlike most teams, we're not using a color not part of our school. We stuck with the red, black and white.

Agree with all of that, I dont dislike the SD logo we have now, I just didnt like our overall uniforms much. These are a huge upgrade IMO

I to wear a hat and a few shirts with it when working out on my travels around the country. People do recognize it. I concur with your other comments as well. Thank you.

I'm very curious to see how the Aztec calendar artwork translates from the stands, and more importantly, on TV. I fear it will look like scribbles, especially to anyone who hasn't seen the design up close.
I guess that we will find out pretty soon!
Go Aztecs!

I knew it looked somewhat familiar. College uniforms have really gone to the "cookie cutter" approach, haven't they? d3f5994kvuwcz1.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/utahblack.jpg

We weren't the first team to have the stripes on the shoulders, team name on the helmet, and going further back blank helmet, with a plain jersey. This is probably the first time in the history of the football program that the team has a unique look. Who else can place an Aztec Calendar on their helmets and jerseys? Cal can't, USC can't, Michigan State can't. And before I hear the "they have timeless looks" just remember every school is pushing their way to modern. Auburn changed the stripes of their helmets to chrome yesterday, Texas has them for a couple of years now, Oklahoma does special theme jerseys every single season. Heck Notre Dame has worn different uniforms including a terrible half gold half blue helmet they wore against Miami. Everyone wants to hold on to something from their past and that is great. I miss the script Aztec helmets they wore from 96-to part of 97 but when SDSU does something as great as our current uniforms which many across the nation love let's support it. The players love it, kids picking out schools may see these uniforms and decide SDSU is the school for them. If you want cookie cutter check what fellow conference teams Fresno, and San Jose wore this past season. Straight out o the Nike catalog with the sleeve stripes that turn into diamonds, and the odd side panels on the jerseys. Those were parts of the uniform that Virginia Tech wore a couple of years ago during the first release of the Pro Combat series. One set of Wyoming's jerseys is still wearing the flywire shoulders that were debuted during Nike's first Pro Combat uniforms. We have great unique uniforms. If you want to see horrible new uniforms this year check out what UCLA and Adidas has come up with. They went from mini shoulder stripes to new awful shoulder stripes with slashes in them along with slashes on their numbers. Its a mess, and that's just their home and away uniforms. This not even mentioning that the shade of blue they wear has become darker, the shade of gold isn't consistent, and they've been wearing black for a couple of seasons.

I hear that there's an alternate Uni coming as well. Anyone else hear of this?
I liked the other recent "new" uniforms as well, but these are really slick, especially the helmets. I've always wanted an all black helmet with some kind of red stripe, nice job all around.
It makes me sick to see Utah trying to take over our whole color scheme, what a joke. It's such a forced effort to be fashionable, but I see why they do it because Black and Red has always been totally badass. Except for six years in SD, I've lived in the SLC area my whole life and I chide Utah fans about when I can. "That red and black looks killer, I wonder where I've seen it before……?"

I've also heard an alternate may be in the works. I'm thinking it's probably a red uni, but who knows.
