Just goes to show our TV deal is sh#tty and that SDSU carries the revenue for the NCAA MM. We should get bonus revenue for SDSU basketball, as BSU does for MWC Football.

all this proves is that things are pretty much the same as they always were ...
One difference being that other than the Aztecs, the MWC has slid in NCAAT revenue.
The non-FBS Big East has a huge media deal that Fox Sports probably regrets.
AAC NCAAT revenue will decrease when the remainder of their BE credits run dry.
The chart is based on average revenue distributed per school, take it with a grain of salt.

The TV contract isn't on him either - if we came back the MW it was the only option. Nobody likes the TV contract (except maybe BSU & that's even doubtful), but what's he supposed to do - whine publicly? Yea, that's how an AD is supposed to act. Like AM bloggers... You make the best of your situation, stay positive, while looking at other options privately.
There is constantly talk about new conference alignment, whether taking some of the better G5s & creating something different or jumping to a P5. However, a barrier to the former is the latter. Some of the schools you'd want to partner with would jump for a P5 offer, so they're going to be hesitant to commit to a new conference.
But yea, put that on Sterk. Makes perfect sense (sarcasm).

the name of the game is leverage . SDSU did try with BSU to make the move to the BE/ now AAC . But BSU bailed and was willing to leverage better TV deal with MW . Aztecs had choice ask BE if they could be full time member all sports for BE , were told no , so back to MW . If BSU had the guts to stay, could they with SDSU have helped the AAC become a better conference and gotten the AAC a much better TV deal ? IMO that was the opportunity for a G5 conference to put up the best offer to the TV networks , they have a strong commissioner and good TV cities . But BSU bailed , for the MW TV deal . Sterk had little choice . SDSU has very little if any leverage , so what can he do ? As you can see none of the G5 do, unless there is a network that has money to pay , G5 are stuck. Prepare the resume for SDSU and hope . B12 again has leverage If they chose to expand . As of 2015 , answer is NO .

Winning solves everything. The giants can fall to the little guys eventually. All you need is pressure and time (Shawshank Redemption).
Look at Qualcomm, they're losing to the little guys. Hear about the big layoffs?
For the MWC to succeed, they should stop being dreamers and be the giant killers. Stop wishing for success. I hope we can beat Penn State this season, that would be a statement win for the conference.

I hope we can beat Penn State this season, that would be a statement win for the conference. Oldie Out Would be awesome but easier said than done. The gap between G5 & P5 is getting BIGGER, which in turn makes it harder for G5's to compete & pull off those upsets. Used to be G5's had facilities on par with the lower tier P5's, but given the extra $15MM+ per year they receive that's no longer the case. As a result, we're seeing fewer & fewer of the fringe elite talents going to B5 schools unless they're borderline when it comes to qualifying. Used to be BSU would pull talent away from the WSU's & OSU's; much less likely to be the case the last 2-3 years.
The gap is only going to grow over the next few years. It's not like the better G5 programs aren't trying to keep up. Including SDSU. It's just the reality of the situation. Bells/whistles are huge in recruiting these days. As a G5 you just maximize the revenues you do have at your disposal, maximize donations, spend wisely, maintain as much continuity wherever possible, hope for low roster turnover & injuries, and catch a few breaks here & there. BSU getting UW at home is a prime example - UW is going to be BAD early in the year, and playing in Boise gives them an edge. Catching them this year is luck. Playing at Cal and at PSU will require a lot of luck. If SDSU happened to play UW at home this year then I'd say winning was a much stronger possibility if not probability.
