Our defense was befuddling during the Faulk years. Luggie was a defensive specialist known for his stingy D at Ariz St. We had four or five Aztecs from that defense make it in the NFL. two or three went on to have monster NFL careers. IMO, it was the secondary that was truly awful. We had a secondary populated by 5'7" and 5'8" guys. It was mismatch city every play That plus lack of depth. I remember the Fresno game at Fresno where Jim Sweeney said it was like the Bulldogs were playing against stationary tackling dummies. We were out of gas and lost miserably. The 46 Blitzing Defense, lack of proper tackling technique and OC Dave Lay letting his offense score too fast, not giving the defense a chance to rest. Oldie Out

I remember watching that game after recording it and thinking what a SC homer douche bag Lynn Swann was during the broadcast. That one still stings just like the BYU game in 1991.

Yes, we gave that victory away vs. USC but I remember the looks on their fans faces. It felt like a loss to them. The BYU tie game at 52-52 hurt much worse to me. You'll recall it was something like 45-17 in the third quarter. I thought this thread was about our defense. Can anyone state their favorite D player on this year's team? I'll take the amazing Mr. Munson.

I agree. I'm still pissed that we ended last season with 4 returning starters listed on the OL and now we have two. Very disappointing.Without a doubt, but they are 19-22 year olds & no one has claimed they're members of Mensa. Obvious good decisions don't come easy unfortunately, no matter how much the coaches beat it into their heads.
Hopefully those remaining are feeling the pressure of staying out of trouble & don't do anything stupid to cost their teammates. Replacing those 2 is going to be critical to the teams success, and may cost us a game.
When you're coming in to your senior year and NFL scouts are looking at you, it doesn't take much to figure out that it's in your best interest to keep your nose clean. I don't know what he did and don't really care. It's a shame that he may have screwed his own future and certainly didn't help his team.
