We need to stop recruiting against Arizona and Oregon we'll never win one.
I also hope the JAM Center is never open to kids once they chose another school throughout their college careers.

Can we just stop recruiting kids from SD. People want to leave home. We should focus on all other areas but SD.

Oregon over SDSU past 5 years: -Carter PF(Transferred) -Bell PF/C (NBA) -Dorsey SG (NBA) -Small PG (Transferred) -Cage PF/C -Smith SF -Bigby-Williams PF/C (Transferred) -Wooten PF -Norris PF
And we ask why we can get a guy to play the 4 or 5? They all land in Eugene lately.
Other Aztec recruits in the class of 2018 -Cherry PF/SF -Mensah PF/C

Also by recruiting them out of HS you develop a relationship with them so if they want to transfer the coaches have a headstart in re recruiting them.

Nor Cal specifically Sac and Stock are our sweet spots. It has been obvious for a long time that in football and basketball, the kids of SD look elsewhere.

The only ones that stay are the ones that aren't highly recruited. I'm tired of getting players who turned us down the first time but are only coming here now because they can't get off the bench from their original school.

First guy I have heard admit that Fisher retiring was a factor. don't believe it. That was just an excuse for not choosing the hometown school. He wouldn't have come here either way.

You can only recruit so many guys...And since we never land them it does hurt since we could have recruited someone else (not from SD). You HAVE to recruit local talent, and we never reach the limit in how many we recruit nor the total number of visits allotted. People act as if we define the whole success of our recruiting on whether or not we land a 5-star local kid, which is ludicrous. They're LOCAL. They take little time. You spend time getting to know them AND THEIR TEAMMATES, many of whom we're also looking at on the AAU circuit, and who knows someday one of them will stay home. If not, so what? How many 5-star talents have we EVER got, or does the MWC get over a 5-year stretch? Not many. You build relationship not only for signing day, but for bounce back day, which does happen. You build these relationships because it's an opportunity to build a repertoire with their coach, for their NEXT talent. This is the LONG game, not the short game. We have as much if not more talent on our roster than any other team in our conference. McD was a huge get; Schakel is a very good player. Seiko is very underrated. Our transfers have been excellent talents. The 2018 class is just beginning. People need to relax & stop freaking out because we didn't land a 5-star kid who wanted to get away from home & play at an excellent basketball program instead of SDSU. One of the top 10-15 in the nation. That doesn't mean SDSU SUCKS, as some like to believe.

Couple thoughts:
Sick of our local media giving face time to people that snub their faces at the City, but props to KUSI for asking the questions they did. Hopefully they wont invite Cherry, because he isnt coming here.

Tend to agree it would not make sense to purposely avoid recruiting local guys . Would suggest our coaches are intelligent enough to realistically know when talking with the recruits, to know where we stand with them(or read reports about their interests in schools ) so amount of time spent recruiting them is adjusted . Since they are local and then when they play AAU ,there are numerous other recruits there to watch. Also as pointed out, keep the pathways open in case a recruit would transfer back .
He is not the first local to head off to another school and will not be the last . Sure seemed from reports coming out this year that he preferred the PAC schools . Better to know now and work on other recruits rather then hanging on .
Suggest time to shut this down and move on to other recruits .
