So has a consensus been reached that the Chargers are gone?

So has a consensus been reached that the Chargers are gone? Mmmm, at least that the Chargers WANT to be gone. I think becoming the tenant in Kroenke's house is the most likely scenario for the Chargers, with the Raiders either moving to St. Louis or somehow coming to terms with a deal to move into Levi Stadium.

IIRC, somebody estimated the current value of the Chargers to be ~$950M. And somebody also estimated the Chargers value to increase to ~$3B if they move to L.A. As Bruce basically said, if those figures are correct, Spanos would be nuts not to swallow his pride and become Kroenke's tenant.

I still don’t believe Kroenke will have a renter if he pays for the stadium himself, would Jerry Jones take one? They are cut from the same cloth. I still see 1 team in LA and The Chargers staying in SD. Raiders have some serious thinking to do though.

Stan neither wants nor does he need a tenant. He'll buy off Dean to keep him down here.

But will Kroenke "buy off" the rest of the NFL owners if they push him to take Dino?
Pretty much all I know is what I read and what I read is that we're not talking the Raiders and the Davises here. Both Kroenke and Spanos are quite popular with the rest of the owners and I think they're therefore likely to want to placate both guys to some extent.

Bottom line is Kroenke is going to do what he wants and if he says no to having someone share the stadium he built out of his own pocket, it isn’t going to happen.
People need to remember that Spanos has ZERO claim to the LA market no matter what he claims as per Eric Grubman and the NFL rules, so he is actually in no position to demand anything. Just because the house next door to me is vacant doesn’t mean I own it because I am closest, sure I can jump the fence and use the pool, but as soon as someone moves in the fun is over.
Also, he doesn’t have a situation like in Oakland where there simply is no option for a stadium, here in SD the city is actively trying to work on a solution for the team. Can’t claim poverty in other words.
If I was an owner, I would tell Spanos money talks and unless he can match what Kroenke is proposing than he better sit down and shut up.

There's no business case for 2 teams flooding the market up there. If the owners want to do Dean a solid, they'll kick him some cash. I think that's exactly what they'll do. You may also see something like the NFL allowing regional broadcast of both teams into the LA/OC market

It's all leading up to a combined convention center expansion/stadium downtown. Yep, all that's missing is the Chargers having a shred of interest in San Diego. ... And a 2/3rds voter approval.

Smart play is to stay out of that pool.

He's more likely to "contribute" to the Chargers half of the SD stadium bill (which still might be the ultimate goal of Spanos/Fabiani). The more I think of it the more I am convinced that the NFL should just tell Spanos to quiet down and make his own market work. The key item I keep coming back to is that Grubman clearly stated that Spanos had NO title whatsoever to the LA market, and if that is the case he shouldn't get any special treatment if he can't win the bid outright. IMO Kroenke will not take tenant, a second stadium won't be built in LA and Spanos will be back to the table with SD by the end of the year.

IIRC, the 49ers had no interest in making their new stadium suitable to accommodate a future potential "tenant," but the NFL forced (or, er, "encouraged") them to do so. So why wouldn't the same condition play out for Kroenke's playhouse?
