With all due respect, this is like being the tallest pygmy in the room. footballscoop.com/news/how-many-division-i-programs-made-the-postseason-in-football-basketball-and-baseball/Personally, I'm not about to buy for one minute that Aztec football has been, nor will be, a qualified success. I'll always have much more respect for back to back 10-1 teams that couldn't buy a bowl game. I'm proud of the accomplishments of the men's basketball program under Coach Fisher's leadership and I'm excited about the potential of the baseball program under Coach Martinez's tutelage. But another single win season followed by another post season to another toilet bowl is not, in any sense of the word, what one could call a success. But sadly, such a season will continue to enable Rocky Long for as long as he wants. Again, those of you that think the Aztecs will become the face of San Diego football, the argument "but we made the post season" is not going to pay the rent. I'm truly sorry, but I'll still refer to Kurt Cobain's "All Apologies". 'I wish I was like you, easily amused". Thanks AztecJoe. I doubt it. No mention of bird flu, Samoans or hemoglobin.

this is a great accomplishment. Why some people think it's not a big deal is beyond me. IT COULD BE WORSE!

I agree with Vision. If this is such a non-event, why is there only a hand full of other universities who have achieved it? Football, they are "toilet bowls" only if you are in a better one. A reminder, we went many years without a bowl game, teams that get that extra two weeks plus to practice have a huge advantage over those who stay home. It is an attitude like this that get coaches fired and result in long period of rebuilding. Claude Gilbert is the classic example of a guy who was fired because of expectations, how did that turn out for us. Rocky has build a solid base, we have great young recruits and a winning image among those who matter (recruits and families) Rome was not built in a day, nor was Aztec basketball. Give Rocky the same time that we gave Steve Fisher and see what happens. In the meantime, I am a proud Aztec to see what our collective athletic department has accomplished.

Collegiate sports at almost all universities only earn money in 3 sports. FOOTBALL, Men's BASKETBALL, and Baseball. IF we have a winning team in all three we are that much closer to spending the money to get ALL the sports what they need to be successful. AND it's not all about making money of course, I for one cannot ask for more than a winning season every year and a chance to improve as an Athletic department. Good work Sterk, coaches and SDSU. This is something to be proud of.....and continue to strive to be even better!!!

Aztec baseball is finally improving. Something that just took an actual professional coach. (RIP, Tony, we do all love you.) Aztec basketball has become one of the top three dozen or so programs in the country. Both of those programs have positive momentum and this Aztec is proud of both of them. Aztec football, OTOH, is stagnant. We get to bowl games because we're always the third to fifth best team in a terrible conference which has five guaranteed bowl slots. Since the conference will be terrible again in 2015, we're a lock for another bowl game this year. Beat a P5 opponent and win a bowl game against a quality opponent and I'll be happy. Until then, feel free to call me "disgruntled" too. COULD BE MUCH WORSE....AND IT WAS...just a couple years ago. The pendulum is swinging up NOT DOWN!

I doubt it. No mention of bird flu, Samoans or hemoglobin. Yeah, it's just a little joke for a lot of us old timers on the past boards all the way back to Zip. Good memory, AFAN.

how many D1 schools don't make the post season in football? anyway, way to go hoops and baseball!!! Roughly 50% of FBS, 30% including FCS playoffs. Then 20% make MM, and about 25% make a regional. In other words we are at the very least in the top third in every major sport of schools in D1. If the shirts were printed, I'd buy one.

Need to fire Sterk! I hate winning. I'd rather go back to days when we didn't win, I felt so much better. Hated going to Maui last Thanksgiving or watching us beat Buffalo in Boise in Famous Potato Bowl(I had fun there in snow and cold)or Vegas for MWC Basketball Tourney or flying to North Carolina and almost winning. Bring back the good old days of losing and not being competitive.
