This is the official release, are you satisfied?
Oct. 15, 2010
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The Mountain West Conference Directors of Athletics today took action to change existing protocols, henceforth precluding individuals who are employees or alumni of the host institution from serving in the communicator position in the instant replay booth. The new policy is effective immediately and is consistent with existing guidelines for the on-field and head replay officials. It was also agreed by the Athletics Directors to initiate a comprehensive review of the entire MWC football instant replay system and procedures, including similar issues that may need to be considered in other sports. It is anticipated the review will culminate with a full report at the Mountain West Conference Spring Meetings in May.

My point to this thread, is that I dont' think it is enough, although it is better. First off, the policy change "precludes individuals who are employees or alumni of the host institution from serving in the communicator position in the instant replay booth." Wouldn't it make sense to say this:
"The Mountain West Conference Directors of Athletics today took action to change existing protocols, henceforth precluding individuals who are employees or alumni of any Mountain West Conference institution from serving in the communicator position in the instant replay booth."
If I am reading this correctly, the MWC could still hire Bunn as a Replay Communicator if BYU played at SDSU? In addition, Bunn could be the Replay Communicator if we were playing TCU or Utah. There are many competent people in this country looking for work, why should we have any MWC alumni or employees perform an important function in the replay booth?

Certainly no alums of the teams playing should be in the booth. All MWC alums might be too broad.

The MWC should add this:
Further, if any official is a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints then he shall not officiate at any BYU game, home or away.
Why wouldn't that work?

That's because you get into the religious discrimination type thing. It's like doing a Catholic card check for anyone working ND games. Can't do it.

This is great and all but it doesn't help put a W in the win column for us.

I would like the following added to the policy change.
The changed MWC policy includes one exception. Basketball games between BYU and SDSU while BYU is still a member of the MWC may include officials on the court or running replays to be members of the SDSU coaching staff, SDSU athletic department staff, SDSU Alumni, SDSU cheer team, members of AztecMesa.com or any combination of the above.
Now it is perfect.
