El Toro senior wide receiver Taylor Dodds ( 6-2, 185) has committed to San Diego State as a preferred walk-on, Chargers football coach Robert Frith reports. "That's his dream school," Frith said of the Mountain West school. Dodds had 67 receptions for 981 yards last season for the Chargers. He also is one of several promising receivers on the South for this summer's Brea Lions Orange County All-Star game

Excuse my homerism, but this kid is the real deal. I played at El Toro against his current HC and with several assistants I'm still friends with, including his position coach. His Hudl page lists him running a 4.4 40. He was the fastest amongst arguably the best WR corps in OC.
He was the team's deep ball guy...him and Kaleb Fossum who is walking on at WAZZU. And he blocks very well...especially down field.
One issue with him is hands. He makes the spectacular grabs, but loses concentration on the routine play. It cost his team royally in an upset bid against Mission Bendejo when he dropped an apparent TD pass in the end zone. That can easily be fixed.

FYI, staying on El Toro guys: Former El Toro QB, Conner Manning redshirt soph from Utah may be the odd man out this spring due to the spread attack Utah runs. He is regarded as their best passing QB. His issue is he's a pocket passer. No confirmation. Just speculation based on what the Utes run and their depth chart. He was the number 2 or 3 guy depending on time of year last season, but everybody coming back can run.
Manning is OC's all-time leading passer.

Sure looks as though the trend for the Aztec passing game for 2015-16 . Short passes to the guys , Catch The Ball and turn the short passes into extra yardage .

Another Dylan Denso type of WR? Could be.
Short passes = long hand offs. It keeps the defenses honest and on their toes. You get dudes in space, they can do damage and get yards in chunks.
Getting a speedster to stretch defenses could be what the doctor ordered.

Same league as Denso, the South Coast. But, not the same type of WR. El Toro ran a ton of short passes with their LA Tech offense. However, those targets mainly went to Fossum and Lane while Dodds, one of their biggest WRs cleared the way. His blocking sprang a ton of huge plays. If you watch Kaleb Fossum highlights, you will see Dodds making a key block on a ton of them.

Key blocks downfield will help our running game.
