Not sure if this was posted yet, but here is the latest update based on his NCAA tournament play. (Insider Only) insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft/results/players/news/_/id/20200/malik-popeLast line of the analysis is most relevant (since I think he is coming back) "If he decides to wait another season and he gets a starting role as a sophomore, he has the talent to be a top-five pick in 2016."

Amazes me that some people here were rooting for him to leave after a year. #getaclue

Also Ford is a hack, the chances of him going top 5 with his injury history and body is extremely slim.

Only people pointing out that if he got a lottery or even first round grade he'd have a tough decision to make.

If he left for the NBA this year I agree that his injury history would reduce a lot of teams interest. But, if plays a major role for us next year with no injury problems I think that would eliminate that problem for him. Also, another year with the Aztecs and he should put on some weight and muscle mass.

If so, he is a hack that is the lead basketball analyst (for NBA draft coverage) on the biggest sports website in the world. I'm not a big NBA fan so I don't really follow the ESPN NBA page but I do know that he is very well connected and isn't just pulling stuff out his backside.

The problem I have with Chad Ford in this case, is that nobody has Pope anywhere near the first round except for him. He saw some flashes of course, as we all did, but Pope was anything but consistent throughout the season. That will come with minutes and touches next year, and with that he can earn validity from NBA GM's. He's just too big of an unknown to take a flyer on right now, and as a professional Chad Ford is pretty ballsy to put his reputation on the line with his comments. He's def got a man crush on Number 21.

Ford knows his stuff & is very connected. He's definitely not just making this stuff up.
If he's talked to teams who are looking at him mid 1st then there are teams looking at Pope mid first. Whether that's enough to come out or not is anyone's guess, but given the banter between he & Zylan I'd guess he's coming back.

To me big thing we see is how as teams move deeper through MM , players get the opportunity to raise their status , especially the guys who were not as highly rated . So if MP and even WS can elevate their game and get the Aztecs closer to SW 16 or E8 makes them look even better . So it would benefit MP to come back unless their is a strong need for money for the family. Also with some guys they love to be the first one who says , I was the first one to say how great guy X ... is . If they are wrong , who cares , but if they are right they are considered to be a great evaluator . If the guy does not get drafted do they find him a job , or are off to the next guy . that is the problem how many guys are out there trying to chase the dream . Ask Malcolm , Jamaal ....

I'll be interested in hearing (if we will) what the scouts have to say. However, it's true that the "twins" need to play together. Pope doesn't strike me as a complete idiot--he's got to know that another year will be good for him and for the team. WS has touted finishing ones degree. I'd hope that he would follow his own counsel.
What fun to see a breakout year for MP and WS in 2015/16!

But....if he were to come back and got hurt, what would happen to his stock then??? That's why I think some on here, me included, were/are saying if you are guaranteed first round money, take it. Fish and Pope will know best where he is predicted to be taken, and will make a sound judgement at that time.

I don't follow the NBA draft very much, so do you guys think a players stock would fall if it was believed that they were going to return to college?
