Go back to your Planet, kook. Chill big homie. It's just jokes. There is a history here. First, we aren't afraid, The Chad Bunn issue and a couple tilted field things soured our relationship when they bolted the conference. Our intent was to not help them schedule.

Are the Aztecs still scared to schedule BYU? Were the ever scared to play BYU?After watching BYU last year looks like a W. Like the Poinsettia Bowl was going to be a win?

Were the ever scared to play BYU?After watching BYU last year looks like a W. Like the Poinsettia Bowl was going to be a win? Had some coaching errors as you know in that game as well as a easy field goal missed. In Hageman's defence we should have centered that for him.

Yes, and most missed that fact, including the writers and broadcasters. Wonder how many here know what "centering" is? Even harder for Donny H. as coming from the left hash was his weak link. This coming year is his year and our year. No excuses.

I believe an 11 game regular season is the standard for the FCS ...

No effing way should we ever schedule THE Pretty Little School Up on the Hill. At a minimum, I would worry that their kids would come in with such a chip on their shoulders that they would dive at our players' knees, the result of which could be devastating.

There are plenty of FCS teams to play, at this point it's our only option. We're 5 months out to kick off.

I believe an 11 game regular season is the standard for the FCS ... You are correct they played 11 and 1 post season beat down to Montana. My little sister comment was more tongue and cheek than anything else. However, I don't think it would be a bad thing. www.usdtoreros.com/sports/m-footbl/sched/usd-m-footbl-sched.html

I don't have any issues playing an FCS school from the Big Sky or MVC, heck bring on an Ivy League school for us to play. We're going to need a 12 game schedule and a warm up game before Cal and Penn State.

This has been discussed, but I'm not aware that any definitive announcement has been made relative to getting a 12th game on the FB schedule for Fall. Frankly, this is not good. That 12th game would likely be a home game, since it would not make sense to make the team travel 7 times and play at home only 5 times. It's getting pretty late in the day to set up another game. What's up? AzWm
I've got a magnetic note pad and schedule calendar that remains on my refrigerator door(s), (a very understanding wife), since I got it in 1995. Home games that year were CAL, NEVADA, FSU, SAN JOSE ST, UNM, WYOMING, and CSU. Just for yucks I googled the road schedule that year, OKLAHOMA, BYU, UTAH, UTEP, HAWAII. Record that year was 8-4 with losses to OU, BYU, WYOMING and CSU.
I know there remains passion, sometimes toxic, for Aztec football, but as I look back some 20 years ago, and now, no one can argue this program has really made any strides over the decades. Really is hard to get excited about Aztec football in 2015, as it hasn't been, realistically, for some time, and for that matter, I continue to have a hard time believing that taking up prime Southern California land to build a stadium to accommodate this program would be good for the city of San Diego. I will continue to argue there would be more lucrative opportunities for this land once the Q is leveled and the Chargers are sent packing that city leaders would have
to consider as more viable options, (assuming they're intelligent enough to).
Reading an article in Sunday's LVRJ regarding the birth, development and growth of Summerlin on the heals of Green Valley, essentially "giving" this land to UNLV, as opposed to these lucrative growth opportunities, would have been as ridiculously tantamount as "giving" soon to be vacant Mission Valley land to State. (Instead, think Hazard Center stretching east for miles).
And as for State football? What has it earned?

That's not the issue -- FCS schedules are 11 games for the regular season, it'll take more money than we can produce to get one to play a 12th game (and on the road). Why would NDSU use their only bye of the season to travel to San Diego and risk their own schedule in the process? (BTW NDSU didn't schedule any FBS teams this year). No FCS team that thinks it has a good chance of making their post-season play-offs would allow a change to their schedule ... not by adding a 12th game, or having a game canceled on them so their opponent could play us (USD or NAU) -- again, if it were negotiable, the price would be higher than we can pay.

Why aim low? North Dakota State has an open date on Sept 5th and presently has only 11 games on its' schedule ... Not aiming low, trying to hit a logical target. If we play North Dakota State or any cow paddy (any) school then we pay their way unless we reciprocate. Home/away, two year commitment. Little sister is in our sandbox. They are nothing more than a bus ride. From an economic point, let’s kick some blue azz. My only concern, will their fans out number us. And I've not missed a FB in 12 years.

FBS is not allowed to play a road game at a FCS site so there would never be a home and away with a FCS team. just pure cash.

From my understanding we pay for non-conference games unless we reciprocate or a deal is cut. But we're off topic. Little sister makes sense.

From my understanding we pay for non-conference games unless we reciprocate or a deal is cut. But we're off topic. Little sister makes sense. We would still have to pay them -- and pay them enough to pay Northern Arizona for cancelling the game they have at USD on Sept 5th. So, in essence, we'd have to pay USD double what we'd pay any FCS team had we scheduled it before now ... If I were USD, I'd ask for triple.

At this point, I almost don't care about the 12th game. Pay for a sure win (or a crushing loss to an FCS) that won't bolster the rep, and risk injury before the two P5 road games? I would like to see us play, but looking at the cost-benefit this late in the game with limited options, eh..............
