Yet another study has been released that proves that watching Fox News is detrimental to your intelligence. As I've witnessed by most of the posts on this board. In eight of the nine questions below, Fox News placed first in the percentage of those who were misinformed (they placed second in the question on TARP). That's a pretty high batting average for journalistic fraud. Here is a list of what Fox News viewers believe that just aint so: 91% believe that the stimulus legislation lost jobs. 72% believe that the health reform law will increase the deficit. 72% believe that the economy is getting worse. 60% believe that climate change is not occurring. 49% believe that income taxes have gone up. 63% believe that the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts. 56% believe that Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout. 38% believe that most Republicans opposed TARP. 63% believe that Obama was not born in the US (or that it is unclear). www.dailykos.com/story/2010/12/13/928455/-CONFIRMED-New-Study-Proves-That-Fox-News-Makes-You-Stupid?detail=email

And how many of the 9 questions do you believe?
Be honest with yourselves. Especially Obamas birth place. I rest my case.

I've watched all news channels, and one thing is clear to me. Only on Fox does one most often see commentators representing different viewpoints when important issues of the day are discussed. As one wag said, on MSNBC there are 100 lefty commentators and Joe Scarborough. And Joe is not exactly way over to the right. On Fox it is possible to get divergent opinions.
No person, no channel, no organization, try as diligently as he, she, or it might, will be free of bias. To expect perfection in such cases is futile. However, I do think that Fox's straight news reporters do a very good job of presenting facts. In that category I think of . . .
Bret Baer Carl Cameron Bill Hemmer Ed Henry Laura Ingle Shepard Smith Chris Wallace
There are other Fox personalities who take ideological stands but who are fair-minded and worth listening to. Among those are . . .
Megan Kelly (who does shrink from taken shots at both Democrats as well as Republicans). Mara Liasson Andrew Napolitano
As for presenting views quite different from those of a conservative perspective, one sees the following Democratic-oriented commentators. . .
Evan Byah (former Dem. U.S. Senator) Bob Beckel (former Dem. campaign operative) James Carville (former and current Clinton side-kick) Alan Colmes Susan Estrich Dennis Kucinich (Former Dem. U.S. Rep) Leslie Marshall Kirsten Powers Joe Trippi (Dem. polster) Juan Williams
I not quite sure in which camp Geraldo Rivera belongs, but he is certainly no right-wing hack.
Basically, if you want to talk about constant bashing of the Democratic Party and especially of the President Obama, Sean Hannity is the guy. But on all other programs that are not straight news (such as those of Bill O'Reilly and Greta Van Susteren), one frequently sees representatives of opposition viewpoints. (I guess I should not forget The Five, a program with 4 conservatives and 1 liberal. But at least there is one.)
I do believe that Fox News' rise to prominence is largely due to the fact that on FNC one really can hear more than one side of important stories. MSNBC does not come close to that.
There is something else that I think merits consideration. I suspect that multitudes of Fox News bashers seldom if ever actually watch FNC. Based on some of the obviously uninformed attacks on Fox that I have encountered, it seems likely that the authors of those attacks are simply repeating what they have heard or read ABOUT Fox News.
Don't misunderstand; Fox News is far from perfect. But Fox is certainly more informative than, say MSNBC, where those on the right are virtually always portrayed as ignorant, ill-natured, mean-spirited, and worthy of contempt.

^^ I got one paragraph in and laughed out loud. Such a joke. That's it? The totality of your response is that you laughed out loud? Try these hypotheticals and consider the worth of laughing out loud as a response. Detcctive: We are investigating a murder and you are a person of interest. Where were you last night? Papacymesa: (laughs out loud) Surgeon: I'm so sorry, but I have to tell you that your father just died on the operating table. Papacymesa: (laughs out loud) Fireman: Bad newes; your house has burned to the ground. Papacymesa: (laughs out loud) IRS official: We have evidence that you have deliberately underreported your income. Any comment? Papacymesa: (laughs out loud) In other words, you are totally incapable of offering an intelligent counter-argument. I just don't understand why you even bother. AzWm

Some people are so biased or uninformed that you can't move their needle. Apparently so. It does trouble me, since I take these issues seriously. I would never . . . NEVER . . . give such a dismissive answer to someone's argument even if . . . no, ESPECIALLY if . . . I found it weak or objectionable in some way. I certainly feel justified in concluding that one who gives such a weak response (actually NON-response) has conceded the validity of my position but does not have the integrity to admit it. AzWm

Please don't misunderstand, any attack I may make/have made on FNC is not uninformed.
