I like the system as a whole. Reward those who share their generosity with the program(s) with fun perks. My issue all-along has been with the "one time" (<cough> three years ago) opportunity to gain points by buying football tickets and having the bonus (10 points) so out of whack with that that equates to in a financial donation, or years accrued watching single-digit win teams. If you're in the mid-pack of donors you pretty much need to buy football tickets (or make an additional cash donation on top of what you already donate to basketball and other sports) to keep up with the proverbial Jones'. If it was me, I'd rather my product stood on it's own merit (that people would WANT to attend football games because they're fun and/or exciting) as opposed to bribing them to support the team, but I know I'm in the minority, so I'll leave it at that and wait for the insults. When football drives the train (instead of acting as the caboose) it will be better for all involved. If the shoe were on the other foot I bet they would do the same to basketball. Simple reality is that to get basketball tickets now you need to pay the $99 deposit, get football tickets, and start making donations. I would imagine you need 15-20 priority points at minimum to have a realistic shot at bench seats. Maybe more? If someone renews their football tickets and gives $1500... I'd guess they might get bench seats?

What's the best way to get info on the point system? I'm on the waiting list for BB tix and have no clue how the point system is operated.

What's the best way to get info on the point system? I'm on the waiting list for BB tix and have no clue how the point system is operated. I don't have the perfect explanation of it, maybe Dave L can chime in since he's way more knowledgeable. But the bottom of this doc has the gist of it. grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/sdsu/genrel/auto_pdf/2013-14/misc_non_event/AztecClubBenefitsChart.pdfBasically, the point system ranks donors based on their giving and involvement level. When there are opportunities for seats, they are issued according to the seating priority. So let's say there are 100 new bench seats available for the bench seats for next season. They just look at who is on the waiting list and has the most points, those who have donated the most get them ahead of people who have donated nothing. So if you only gave a deposit, you probably have no points. Your first step, if you can't or don't want to make a donation, would be to buy football tickets so that for the next season you'd have more points than anyone who also did the deposit but didn't buy football tickets. College athletics is pretty simple: Those who donate the most get the most access to the program and the best seats for home and away games. (And NCAA tickets, etc)

Thanks again.

Does this mean that we should renew NO LATER THAN the 16th? Hope so, since that would mean we can call on Monday. I say that because in my case I might want to get different seats for football; my hoops seats are okay.

Thanks again. You're welcome. I think you are on the right track. I was very fortunate to get in on basketball at the right moment. We came in with a whole bunch of people, but were able to make a donation that got us ahead of folks who we were with. We have good seats, but I think without a major donation I'm where I'll be for the foreseeable future. It is a bit of a waiting game. I think, at some point, the Aztec Club sends out a notice with where you are at. I used that as a barometer for how much I had to give in order to get the seats I wanted. The good news is that once you have the seats you want, as long as you keep them up you won't have to donate that amount each season. I've heard that at some P5 schools the system resets every year. So if you want great seats you might have to donate $30,000 plus the cost of the seats... each season. For the school, it's all about raising the $8 million or so they need each year for scholarships and student expenses.

I asked a couple folks on Twitter who would know for sure and will post their answer. UPDATE Just got a confirmation for the Aztec Club via Twitter. You have until 11:59 PM on 2/16 to get the early bird perks. (In the first post) Obviously, you can wait to renew to the regular deadline in your GoAztecs.com ticket account, but you won't get the freebies. Adam

Any word on the pint glasses? They were supposed to be available for pickup at the spring football game. I wasn't able to make it so I don't know if they were actually available.
