Amen. I wish the coaching staff would get on these guys. DA was bad last night, as was WS (this has been a common problem), and Spencer and Chol have hands of stone. Since the coaching staff plainly makes no effort to coach these guys up, the only solution I can think of is for you, merkerrand and alohaboarder to buy a strip of tickets behind the Aztecs bench and play good cop/bad cop. Two of you can yell at them for such bad play; the other one can offer in game instruction, including demonstrating proper techniques. After the game, make sure to intercept Coach Fisher before he leaves the court, and insist that he replace Dutcher and Hutson with two of you. The third can take over for Fisher, when he is run out of town after failing to win a first round game in this year's tournament.

In past playing days a long time ago, I was always told that big men in the paint should never, ever have the ball at the waist level or lower let alone dribble the ball unless they have only one player pinned to their back to move against.

Just posted on this earlier on another thread. It's a terrible habit, we do it a lot, and it almost always doesn't go well. Skylar is probably the worst offender, Chol does it too much, Winston also does it a lot, JJO too. Similarly, sometimes they don't dribble, but instead of holding the ball high and going up to shoot, they'll bring the ball down and the other team starts grabbing and punching at it, usually with a good deal if success. I am forever yelling at my tv, "QUIT DRIBBLING THE BALL!!! JUST PUT IT RIGHT UP!!!" Scares the heck out if my dogs. Usually my face is in my hands immediately after, with me mumbling ... " why? Why?! WHY!!??" They should all be forced to watch old films of Kevin McHale....he was a master at getting offensive rebounds and never bringing the ball back down below his head. He'd get the rebound and before anybody had a chance to block it or strip it, he'd quickly put it back in for an easy basket. or watch Bill Walton when he was at UCLA, master of the bank shot on the block, kept the ball at face level, never brought it below his shoulders.

Type of response. When did I say I was a better coach? When did I say I wanted to coach? It's ok, I'll wait. I never said I could do better, did I? I guess we can't be critical of our team at all; it's all rainbows and unicorns.

Gee Mission Trails~~~~ U~~figured out what? My simple concured observation posted by others...Nope not loooking for a coaching job.or a jilted Wolverine???. I enjoy postive constructive commenting, like all others who know the game, not enabling a feel of Kumbaya. When the team was going through a bad streak, I feel the comments made helped the team and players. Shepherd went through hell with posts after CSU game and he came back and had a good performance last night. Nothing like an attention getter comment to spur things on in a postive manner.~~And when a player is deserving of praise~~ a deserving post...Quit being so thin skinned

I don't like Kumbaya ever since he flopped and cost us the chance at a final four!

Our big guys don't seem to use the back board enough on inside shots. Coach said he likes when JJ does that instead of rattling bunnies off the rim. Why would an inside player ever want to score on swishes and hooks? They all think they are Kareem. Stop swishing when you are in the paint. Speaking of UCLA, another of Walton's trademarks (yeah, it's a generational thing, maybe) is that he was incredibly quick at hitting the outlet passes off defensive rebounds. I don't see that anywhere in the game today. Guys rebound on defense, then hesitate and look around for a couple of seconds. Get the ball, get rid of the ball. Final rant: After your fourth beer, no one should stop you from "taking a dribble."

yes..Bill Walton was coached on how to execute this move. Mccale learned from Aurbach (sp). Jabbar from Wooden...Notice on how UNM big men keep the ball above there heads after a rebound, etc? Yep~~~AZ Coordinator~~~ Kumbaya was stripped in the Arizona game by Mcconnell. But the key o the loss, was the guy(guess who), other than Thames and hard working Davis, on the boards, was not utilized in the second half, in turn, ultimately, led to the wrong guy handling the ball, being stripped

Thank you for this post, I'm always dumbfounded by the bigs going to the floor first, and judging by the length of this thread it is also a common observation from everyone else, so now my question is:
Where in the hell is the coaching !!

In basic terms everyone on the team needs to limit the dribbling , pass quicker , move with out the ball , be ready for the pass . Share the basketball , less one on one style of play , look for the open guy on fast breaks , quick outlet passes and go to the basket . As mentioned guys down low need to use their height do not bring the ball down below their chin . Take their shot if open or kick it out QUICKLY . We have the athletes use that to our advantage on offense , not just defense. Offense does not just happen , you need to practice it often . Fisher has said they have trying to get more offense that includes at lease one pass inside before some one puts up an outside shot . But it seems some guys seem to forget .

All cans see this..Why can't the coaches?? I recall hearing Fish in a radio interview last season addressing this exact issue re: Sky and JD. In other words, I'm sure they can "see this."

Habits developed over time are hard to shake, no matter how much a coach and player work on it. As you said, I'm sure they are aware of these weaknesses, as well as many others that probably aren't picked up on here.

The bottom line here is that there should be no mistakes ever from anyone remotely related to this team.
I pay good money for my tickets and just like in my life I expect no mistakes ever... not from the kids on the team, the head coach or the staff.... not from the AD, the school, The Show, the Blue hairs, the rest of the fans, the early leavers, the late arrivers, the season ticket holders, the food vendors, the trainers, the grad assistants, the officials, the announcers, the network, the cable company... not from the City of SD, the state of California, or from the USA... not from the president, congress, the SC,... not from ISIS, IRS, IRA, ERA, MLB, NFL, NBA...
I can't believe I am the only one who sees these issues. What is wrong with those that are here to please me???
