Angelo Chol and Malik Pope working their a$$es off on the offensive boards... what was that... 5 or 6 tips on one possession... that lead to free-throws.

It was basically a tip drill with Fresno State guest starring in the role of "The Floor".

besides the volley on the boards ( do they count as missed FG's or Reb's ?) Another great bounce pass from the DA to Chol for a slam dunk - was play of the game . 1 of our 4 assists . ( too few and far between)

( too few and far between) They count as both... Those tip flurries account for both our huge offensive rebounding edge in the game, as well as bringing our shooting percentage down. The way Fresno was defending us, there weren't many opportunities for the catch-and-shoot style that got us so many assists last week, the guy getting the ball generally had to make too many moves or dribbles to qualify the passer for an assist. The important thing is to score, not how quickly after the pass the score is made.

To me, the play of the game was Malik Pope taking the ball the length of the court, going up for what looked like a slam for the ages and then getting hacked on the arm to have it ruined.
That guy is going to be something else in the years to come.

.....another play of the game was Kibret Woldemichael attempting to dribble the ball in the backcourt and getting stripped of the ball by 2 bulldog defenders at the end of the game.
He looked like someone who'd won a fan contest to dress up in an Aztec uniform, but had never played a game in his life.
I felt bad for the poor guy, but at least he got into the game......I guess.

I might go with Dakarai Allen, his 2 steals and accompanying Technical fouls on FSU helped put some distance between the scores when the game was close.

The bigger question... wasn't it a 14 point game at the time... which was the spread? Conspiracy theorists have to ask...

If you check the game log, SDSU had 2 very similar possession that account for 0-10 shooting and 9 offensive rebounds. Take out these 2 possession, then SDSU shot 18/40 - 45% but would have only had 31 rebounds and only 9 offensive. scores.espn.go.com/ncb/playbyplay?gameId=40059165214:13 26-38 J.J. Back in the day whem Moses Malone played, he was accused of padding his rebounding stats by purposely missing shots just to get more rebs in the stat sheet, haha.

This is exactly why most statistics are absolutely worthless. The only stat that ultimately matters is the final score. It's also why Points/Possession (Kenpom's) is really the best statistic. It doesn't matter if you shot 10% (1-10) during a possession & grabbed 9 boards. All that matters is you either scored or you didn't on the possession.
Our bad shooting is going to lead to more OR's, which in turn (hopefully) lead to more 2nd chance points. The shooting stats may not look pretty, but we're still an average offensive team when it comes to putting it in the bucket.
It wasn't 1 of our finer offensive performances nonetheless, but when you only give up .75 pts/possession your going to win. Period.
All we need to do is average 1 pt per possession. If we do that we'll win 9 out of 10 times.

Oh what might have been... if only Moses Malone had played at Maryland (I was born in Silver Springs, MD and am a huge Terp fan)... instead of going to the ABA.
