Interesting name to throw out. IMHO, Martz reminds me of Craft but won't run the ball as much. Some of our RB's may want to transfer out because the offense will pass 85% of the time.

Oldie Out You might want to ask Faulk how that turned out... If you have a running back like Pumphrey, you can run him, or say, I dunno, throw him screens all effing day (again, think of Faulk leading the league in total yards and catching a TON of passes out of the backfield). I doubt that running backs will transfer out just because they aren't running the ball as much as they'd like; they're still getting plenty of touches and chances to help the team.

Oldie Out A RB named Faulk flourished under him and he ended up in the HOF. I don't think any RB would go anywhere. The coach has a super bowl ring because of the offense style her ran.

He may be a great choice if he was interested! No one mentioned this earlier, but Martz is a student of the game, and he was very impressed, and interested in Don Coryell's offense. In fact, he used some of Coryell's offensive plays in his scheme when he was OC with the Rams. Talk about a connection to San Diego State. Would love to see what he could do here!

There is no way Martz would allow his ego to defer to Rocky. He's as abrasive as they come. When he was the OC for the 49ers the local media wrote he was bucking for the HC job, but he screwed up a couple of times, then he and the Niners parted company.

Just say no to Martz.
Need a young OC whose mission is to take Rocky's Job.
Enough of the retreads.

It would be a wonderful, wonderful hire...But it prolly won't happen though. He knows offense and he has enough star power to bring in top recruits on that side of the ball, just don't think he wants to be a college coach.

How about this. Phillip Rivers decides he does not really want to have back surgery, but is weary of being trashed via the awful Chargers OL. He retires next week and becomes the OC and coach in waiting. Sometimes dreams come true.

How realistic would something like this really be?

If Martz were a possibility, why would this still be unknown? He's unemployed by any team, and Rocky Long knew Toledo was quitting weeks, or months ago, so why would this be dragged out so long? Yet another example of our HC's brain fog? Or Sterk's inability to find the check book when it comes to football?

Only you can take a "let's guess who should be our next Head Coach" post and turn it into a bash Rocky and Strek comment lol. Good work!!!
