Just watch all the Rocky Lovers come out to spin this one. This team is officially in trouble.7-3? The only OOC win against a reasonably good team was against Yoots. What next? A loss to Ball State at home? Oh, come on. Get a grip.

This is a good team. Probably not as good as we had hoped, but still good. There are holes. The lack of a PG, the lack of a guy who can go get a basket when you need one, the regression of Polee and lack of improvement from JJ and Spencer...The roster has holes. It is what it is. They likely still win the MWC. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

GigglyforShrigley said it earlier...Ive been going to games since Peterson Gym and we fans have every right to be extremely upset with this team. It completely boggles my mind how out of synch they look on offense. Its over a month into the season and they look like a pick-up team on offense. The worst thing, is that Ive seen ZERO improvement and I have to come to grips that this is just how its going to be all year. Honestly, if something doesn't change, we're probably coming in 3rd or 4th in conference. CSU, Boise and Wyoming are good enough.

Hard to watch this team continue to struggle with fundamentals and get into the same ol' funk of going into auto-pilot with the stagnant half court ball movement. We need to utilize Shep's strength in cutting hard to the basketball and dunking rather than having him dribbling which often leads to TOs. Ditto with DP in finishing at the rim.
We're not going to win many games when TOs > Assists. If we can't handle the ball when pressed, then need to go back to basics and work on dribbling drills around cones. Lots of time to get this ship back on course for March, but for most fans it's frustrating to see the same mistakes crop up and no improvement one month into the season.

Bandwagon fans having a field day tonight. I'll buy your tickets. PM me. No, Aztec fans are not like those dis-loyal, piece of crap, greedy, Charger season ticket holder "fans" who don't even need the extra money.

Can't play a 5 star forward 1 measly minute cause he loves him some JJO hogging all 45 of them no matter what. What, exactly did JJ do to you to deserve such vitriole? JJ O' and Chase Tapley are the kinds of players that unfortunately attract this kind of misdirected furor. I think it's because they're quiet, smart kids who aren't ever going to be "the star of the team", they're not ever going to draw attention to themselves, but they're going to give it 110% every time they put on their shoes. They'll never be the team's leader, but that doesn't mean that either one of them wasn't absolutely a huge factor in making things "go". I would bet if you asked the team who their leader was right now, it'd be JJ. Some people have the ability to take on that role, and others take it reluctantly. Doesn't exactly explain why that serves as such a lightning rod for foolish criticism, but it almost always does.

My expectations are lowered for this season. NCAA's within reach, just not Sweet 16 good or Elite 8 good. I predict we get knocked out in the first round. I certainly hope I am wrong. Others should lower their expectations as well. Just wait and see before we start crowning this team. This team is full of questions, with little answers.
Something needs to be done with the starting 5, it's not working. This is a bad trend.

Lost this game in the first half. Yep. Not scoring in the final six and half minutes was brutal! They could have had a big lead with any kind of offense since Cincinnati was scoring either.

I was criticized for saying Kell is not a PG. Now everyone is saying it. We wasted 10 games by not developing Zabo. Kell needs to be SG so he can drain shots. Like recent years, we'll win the MWC and exit against better competition. Why is JJ playing so many minutes? It goes back farther than that. Fisher's experiment with Shepard at PG was a 2 year waste. He should have been developing a real PG behind X, not LBF. Right now Quinn is the best of the rest, but even he's not a true PG. 2 Quyinn is the best of the rest

A lot of luck is involved. I'm disappointed that we lost, but coming into the season without X and with 2 freshmen running the offense, I knew that there would be ups and downs. For some it will be hard to accept that this team will need more than just a month to improve.

After this there is no way this team stays in the Top 25, and deservedly so. O'Brien is the only one who plays with a high IQ. This is not a reload team, it's a rebuild team. I've come to grips with it. Obrien needs to be more aggressive if he is going to play 40 minutes. We need double figures from him. I noticed he is looking to pass first instead of attack. He waits to pass, then if he doesnt see anything he waits too long to post. it gives the defenders time to adjust. He's a SF playing PF. That's why.

Luckily it's not football so this loss doesn't kill us, but it hurts. We can't expect an awesome seed in the tourney this year, but I think we'll make big strides as a team by the end of the year due to the young guys maturing. Our freshman don't gel with the rest of our team very well at all yet. Hopefully that happens and we can make a run at the end when we should be playing our best ball. We still have a shot at the Sweet 16, you never know who you're going to play against. We beat 2 teams last season that would've been looked at as cupcakes if they were on our schedule in the regular season (NMSU and North Dakota State)

Right now, it just doesn't look that way. Things could change, but right now we are a decent team, nothing special. We were counting on Polee and JJ to step up. They have not, they have played bad to sub-par. What good is it to have a guy that does everything good, when he can't fill up the stat sheet with prime minutes. Skylar, well he is what he is. Our PG situation is scary bad. Shepard is the only real player that has shown consistent improvement, but he can only do so much.

^ Exactly. I love Fish, but sometimes he has the deer-in-the-headlights moments (i.e., game against FGCU) and doesn't make the in-game adjustments and/or the team makes the brain fart TOs over and over again. The MENTAL MISTAKES and LACK OF IMPROVEMENT is what's so frustrating to watch.

The games that we have lost have been on the road. We play like we played against BYU or Pitt on a neutral court and we can play with anyone. Not saying that we would win, but it's still early. I agree that Polee is struggling right now. He is taking too many shots that are hurting us. When it comes to our PG's, don't forget that they freshmen. Come march if they haven't improved then we can maybe hit the panic button. It took Richie, DJ and X more than just a couple months to become great Aztecs. And I'm glad that Shepard is playing well. He would absolutely be getting destroyed on this board if he wasn't.

Something needs to be done with the starting 5, it's not working. This is a bad trend. After tonight's game, consider my expectations officially lowered. Let's face it. This team just doesn't have "it". At least as this point in time. Way too many issues with this team. Lack of a true PG, no senior leadership, lack of a go to scorer, horrendous 3 point shooting team, poor free throw shooting team, plays extremely tentative on the road, can't handle the pressure of being a ranked team(not for long) ect.... Really makes you miss the 2 true, quality senior leaders we had in Thames and Davis. Both of whom exuded confidence, leadership and, most importantly, composure. Something this team clearly lacks. This is easily the most frustrating team I have seen here over the last 5 years. No question about it. Especially when they considered to be the "deepest" and most "talented" in the history of the program. All hype obviously. Also, a lot of people on here (myself included)believe the Aztecs should just waltz into conference play and win it with no problem. I'm not so sure anymore. Especially with how piss poor this team has looked on the road so far. Sure, the conference definitively looks to be down and on paper, the Aztecs look like the class of the conference by far, but you can't win anything based on paper, and from what I've so far, this Aztecs team looks like nothing more than a paper tiger. Have to only hope that they win the conference from here on out.
