Aztecs will be ranked around #23 in 2 weeks.

They probably won't see top 25 again this season. They're not a top 25 team anymore. Who's "They?"

Glass half-full posters thought that our victories over UCR and SDCC might move the needle upwards a bit. But anyone that paid any attention to the scores wouldn't have been impressed. And they weren't. We went from #27 last week to #28 this week. More than that, last week, 23 AP voters put us in their top 25. This week it was only 14. Time to start beating any and everyone in the MW.

These wins were not going to get us in the top 25 (since nobody towards the bottom lost) but would keep us 'near' the top 25 until we win more games (and other's lose). I really think SDSU wins their next 3 games (over 2 weeks) and that will be enough to get us back in as we are only 28th in the AP (and still 25th in the coaches poll) assuming other team at the bottom of the top 25 do lose.

The Aztecs need to rev up the offense in the first 10 minutes of each game and so we don't have to rely only on defense to keep us close. I'd like to see Malik start instead of Polee. Call me crazy but, he has length and can generate some points and start AQ over Kell who can drive and shoot and has leadership skills on court.
We still have some time to experiment with the offense versus AFA at home New Years Eve and FSU on the road 1/3/2015.

And I know we've had a great run the last year or two so I'll give people the benefit of the doubt for not knowing/remembering... The only way teams move up is when teams ahead of them lose, or they beat a top 15ish squad. That's it, that's all. No EC bias, no SDSU disrespect, no writers not paying attention. It's an endurance contest to see how many games you can win before those teams ahead of you lose.

I don't expect the Zags to lose again this year after winning at BYU. They will dominate the WCC. Who will beat them moving forward USD, St Mary's, Santa Clara? I don't see it. They are solid all the way around Pangos plays like Stockton. They lose tonight at USD!
Then again, I wouldn't bet my paycheck....

Much as this topic rankles me, it remains fodder for us fans, and gives sports writers something to do when not drinking coffee. One good sign I noticed is all the "they haven't played anyone" criticism of CSU is the same type of criticism other established programs gave SDSU constantly over the last 4 years. It doesn't stick anymore since our program has sustained success, but it makes me think CSU is more deserving than fans think, and we better play our a$$es off if we want to win our conference.
