Are we a better destination than SMU? If so, someone should give Mack Brown a call

Since we are getting rich as a university, our facilities are improving, we play in a world class NFL stadium, are in a recruiting hot bed, do you think we can hire Harbaugh away from the 49ers? He might even get pushed out as he does not get along with management. How many thanksgiving cocktails did you have?

Is this really serious? Coaches such as Harbaugh are going to wait for an NFL job to open up. They are not going to take the relatively low salary that SDSU can afford to pay. We might get a respected coach who is out of a job and wants to get back into college coaching. Rich Brooks a decade ago would have been a good hire. And, of course, Steve Fisher for hoops was just such a case. The problem is, such top men who are eager to coach again can probably get a job at a P5 conference. A recent case in point is Mike Leach. He did well at Texas Tech but got fired. He did not get a job at a Sunbelt or Conference USA school; Instead, he was hired by P5 Washington State and is now the fourth highest salaried Pac-12 head coach. (By the way, Leach's lawsuits against Craig James and Texas Tech have failed.)
I think we should try to get a Steve Fisher type (excellent record and willing to coach here because he's having trouble getting a big time gig), but that won't be easy. Instead, we will probably have to hire someone who has had success at a G5 school or perhaps a school in the FCS.

You don't think 8 million is enough for Harbaugh? We can afford that

We should bring in Tom Coughlin after he gets fired by the Giants. He and Fisher can go fishing, trade grandkid stories with each other and go to AARP meetings together.

Didn't he apply for the job here twice without once being called back?
Our window on him closed.

We had our chance with Harbaugh back when he was at USD and actually wanted the SDSU job then. But we selected Chuck Long instead. Harbaugh is going to the Raiders at the end of the year.

The Raiders, where coaches go to kill their careers. He ain't going to Oakland, no coach looks at that place as an opportunity, even with Al Davis fertilizing the grass now. Harbaugh will go to Michigan. He may one day come back to the pros but if he is successful at Michigan he would likely make more money staying put there.

When did we get $10 million saved up to pay his salary? We are rich, money is not an issue. He'd only cost 8 million however. Nah, we are poverty stricken. All other Division 1A universities have much more money than us...just ask our AD. I heard a rumor that Sterk was combing the high schools to find our next football head coach to be prepared when Rocky retires. Unfortunately, after interviewing the Oceanside football head coach Sterk decided we couldn't afford him.

It's pretty well known that Harbaugh's wife loves the Bay Area and doesn't want to leave. Oakland has a head coach opening and with Al Davis gone, Harbaugh will be given more control. He'll take the job, just watch. He's NOT going back to the college level. This is actually something that has been in the works for several weeks now.
