He would've been around the same time as George Jones. What a combo that would've been! But we've had plenty of SD County players that left town (running back in this case) that did well at other places. Rashaan Salaam, Ricky Williams, Reggie Bush, Terrell Davis, Marcus Allen, Damon Washington, etc. We can go on and on with all kinds of players as you know. Off topic but I just watched again the 30 fo 30 on The U and how they kept all of the Miami Dade County and surrounding area kids to stay home to play for the U. Imagine if we could ever do that ourselves. Man, what teams we could have... Also "Touchdown Tommy" Vardell and Michael Pittman (though we had his older brother). If we only had Miami's cash and moral compass. Touchdown Tommy! Haven't heard that name in a while! I think Canepa put out a list a while in back in the UT that outlined top high school players from SD. We got some but most of the top talent went elsewhere. But as we have all seen, we have a TON of D1 talent in our area.

Oh man thats one tging i cant stand all the Pac 12 teams & what not who would literally have NO TALENT on their teams if they didnt have players from California! But Cali has a ton of players and theres enough to go around. I will say im glad to see some local kids making an impact on our current team. And on another level, SDSU may never reach the height of what the U reached in the early 90's but im very proud of the integrity our university has maintained in their football program. I applaud coach Rocky & co. Doin it the right way. I am also very proud of the types of kids that are being brought the the Mesa this moment. But would you take some "questionable" kids that had better talent in order for a chance to win more games? I'm betting that some of our fanbase would. Especially since we are on the outside looking in (not in a P5 conference).

Someone attached a magnet to the back of Miami's moral compass.

Coach Kentera just said on 1090 that Ricky Williams' mom held onto San Diego States LOI for him in case he changed his mind at his signing day announcement. But he was dead set on going to the LongHorns. This isn't really relevant, i know...But i had to vent. Being a Patrick Henry Alum myself, i wish our Aztecs had Ricky Williams those college years on the Mesa. Imagine how much that would've continued the momentum of SDSU being a running backs school??? It would have equated SMU's Pony Express backfield with three future NFL RBs. We already had George Jones and Larry Ned.

When i say that i am proud of the way our football program has maintained their integrity, i don't mean taking chances on "questionable" kids or anything relating to the students. They are young men and will make mistakes no doubt. But really, i am talking about the way that the coaches, administrators, grown men, etc. have conducted themselves. You can easily look at many of these POWER 5 conferences and their schools and really question their integrity. Most often when a kid makes a mistake in College Sports, the schools really enjoy to lay all the blame on the student. When actually its the decisions, actions and situations that the adults themselves place these kids in that cause a lot of grief. Not all cases of course, but many.
