The MW is a conference that got 2 bids last year for MM , and it looks as though it could happen again . MW has some terrible places to travel to , then toss in the altitude . So every road trip is an adventure in the winter in the mountains , and can put quality teams at a disadvantage . More terrible places to play/travel to then quality teams. And those teams rely on beating the Aztecs for their "quality win" Not too many teams in the MW will have victories over top 50 or top 100 teams during the OOC , Aztecs and maybe Rebels but wonder what other MW school steps up for the conference during the OOC and then in MM . Count up how many top 100 HS recruits are signed by MW schools for 2014 , then in November for 2015 , other then SDSU or UNLV ? CSU has 3 top 100 Kenpom teams, #113 Denver and a good Mercer team. Fresno has Cal in the top 100, Texas Tech and Irvine both < 115. Wyoming has 3 top 100 and two more < 115. Boise has 3 top 100 including Wisconsin and one more < 115. These don't include tournaments. Obviously, we have to win a few of these and the MW opponents from 75-125 have to win the games other than against us, but the possibility is there for us to get 4-5 teams IF (and only IF) we take care of business in the OOC and have a couple surprise wins. If that doesn't happen, we don't deserve more than a couple.

Not going to defend myself on the troll comments again.
When I saw that quote from Coach Neal, my first thought was we have moved away from the slow, un-athletic, big, physical team to a team that sounds exactly like the Aztecs model, - long and athletic, excellent defense, but some trouble scoring without turnovers. Thought the alleged similarity would be of interest to some Aztec fans. I would not have posted a regular comment about the Lobos this early.

If things go right in Puerto Rico - then New Mexico will have 4 top 100 games, Connecticut at 16, West Virginia at 55, and New Mexico St. twice at 79

Rick do enjoy your updates on your Lobos . Style of play is dictated by the talent you have going from the top combo down low to another style this year . Do think you need to look at your OOC schedule , basing it all on the T in Puerto Rico . Lose in the first or second round and you have little to show for your team's OOC record . Other schools in the MW are making an effort , can not say the same for the Lobos . Also has UNM come out saying if they are going to adjust to the new rules coming from the P5 ?

On a side note - I heard that because this upcoming season for the Lobos is going to be "pretty ugly" with a lot of losses - their most famous fan "Snake" didn't renew his season tickets.
kind of sad - looks like the pit is losing its edge!

I used to think Snake was a homeless meth head who should be avoided. Turns out, he only looks like a homeless meth head and is actually a pretty cool guy.

Not going to defend myself on the troll comments again. Probably for the best, as I recall your last defense wasn't much better than the Lobos defending Stanford or Harvard.

Rick7g is a good guy. You are being too harsh. This is a section about the Aztecs and the MWC. Last I checked New Mexico is in the MWC. When your team loses it is easy to take an opponents words as something they are not. I think that is some folks experience. I have never known Rick to be anything but a straight forward fan who isn't here to troll or rub our noses in any defeat. Bill, you either have a short memory or weren't privy to the threads where he showed his true colors (two years ago after we held UNM to their historic low he was the worst). True, he's not your prototypical trollobo who just pops in - flames smack - then pops out. But as I wrote two years ago, that makes him even worse - slinks in, pretends he's a good guy and then smacks AMers for their posts after our mutual games. I've proven my points with excerpts of his in the past, I'm not going to take the time to do it again here. But just wait til conference season, he'll prove my point again. And I'm curious why any AMer would defend an opposing fan who's on our board. One might argue, by definition, his presence here alone constitutes trolling. +1 I still remember when we where recruiting Z. He was making up a tons of crap. He was saying that we were recruiting Dane Kupier and that we offered him. Then gave two links that nobody have ever heard. He is a troll. Fang, Borg, and Monster are great posters and are welcome to this board.
